Employee Fitness Resources

Washington and Lee offers a variety of fitness options for faculty and staff. From free fitness center memberships for employees and their families, to outing club equipment and trips, to group fitness classes, there are opportunities for everyone, regardless of current fitness level or area of interest.

Athletic Facilities

Use of the Warner Center is open to all members of the W&L community. This includes the Fitness Center and weight room, Washington and Lee Natatorium, and indoor and outdoor tennis courts. Personal fitness consultations are offered to employees through the Fitness Center. 

Athletic Events

W&L athletic events are free and open to the public except for select NCAA tournaments. Employees and their families are welcome and encouraged to come out and support our teams!

Campus Walking Trails

W&L's campus includes walking trails ranging from .5 to 2.75 miles long. Download a map or join Patti Colliton for a guided walk to become more familiar with the back campus trails. Patti's walks are offered throughout the year and are announced of Campus Notices as well as in the Campus Connections Newsletter.

The Outing Club

The W&L Outing Club offers students, faculty, and staff a variety of outdoor activities and classes. Activities include backpacking, fly fishing, canoeing, kayaking, rafting, rock climbing, mountain biking, caving, skiing, and outdoor cooking. Equipment and trip planning resources are available to W&L employees who want to create their own trips. The Outing Club Barn has outdoor gear, kayaks and paddle boards available to be checked out at no cost. 

Intramurals

Faculty and staff often field intramural teams to compete with W&L students in a variety of sports. For more information, visit the Campus Recreation site.

Group Exercise Classes

Group exercise classes are open to W&L employees and their families for a nominal fee. Classes include Sport Circuit, Zumba, Cardio Kickboxing, Strength and Toning, Pilates, Group Cycling, Yoga and more. For more information, visit the Campus Recreation site.
