Jeremiah Daniel McWilliams, B.A. and B.S., Class of 2005

Jeremiah, a Virginia native, was an energetic, thoughtful, and involved member of the W&L community for his entire undergraduate career. “A man of deep religious convictions” and one of the few students ever to complete three majors (politics, journalism and mass communication, and business administration), his extracurricular involvements were equally numerous: writing for The Trident newspaper, vice-chair of the campus Habitat for Humanity chapter, Appalachian Service Project leader, university chorus and chamber singers, consultant to the Rockbridge Area Occupational Center and Adams National Historical Park, part-time report for a local paper and two local radio stations, internships with ABC News (Washington), Refugee Resettlement Program (Richmond), the Heritage Foundation’s Asian Studies Center, the Small Business Survival Committee, and The Leadership Institute. He was a Rhodes Scholarship semi-finalist. His plans following graduation are to work at the Virginian-Pilot(Norfolk, Va.) as an intern/assistant business reporter, sponsored by the Donald W. Reynolds Foundation, hoping to then “find a niche as a print or broadcast reporter, with the goal of becoming an international correspondent."
