Washington and Lee University has partnered with Parchment to order and send your transcript and other credentials securely. This link will open a new browser.
The transcript is the complete record of all academic work attempted at Washington and Lee, regardless of whether the student was enrolled in law or undergraduate courses, as a degree-seeking student, or a non-degree student. W&L does not provide official transcripts which segregate individual courses, schools, or terms or reflects only study at one level.
Official transcripts bear the University seal and the University Registrar’s signature and are provided directly to individuals, schools, or organizations with a signed release of the student.
As part of the online ordering process, you can ask to have the transcript delayed until the current term’s grades or degrees are posted to the record.
Parchment, our transcript service provider, recommends use of Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Apple Safari, or Microsoft Edge web browsers for an optimal ordering experience. Be sure to check your information as you enter it; incorrect information, such as a single-digit error on a birth date, SSN, or ID, can result in delays due to required research on our part to verify the record prior to processing.
Transcript Orders
Students can order their official transcript through our transcript service provider, Parchment. Official digital copies of the Washington and Lee University transcript are available for all current and former students that graduated after 1986. Print requests are also made online at any time and will be processed during the normal business week. Students who attended and/or graduated before 1986 will only be able to order a printed copy of their transcript, as they are not in the current database.
There is a $5.00 processing fee per transcript, which covers the cost of the online convenience, and various security and confirmation features. Printed transcripts will incur an additional mailing fee.
All former and current students can request expedited delivery of printed transcripts via FedEx in Parchment directly. Students who graduated before 1986 will need to provide a FedEx account number for expedited shipping, as those transcripts are processed in-house. Real-time emails are sent for each status change on the order and the order can be tracked in the Parchment account.
Walk-in Requests
Current students may request free paper copies of their official transcript in person at the University Registrar’s office at 3 Lee Avenue, during normal business hours. These may be picked up by the student or mailed by the University Registrar’s office, on request.
Unofficial Transcripts
The University Registrar does not provide unofficial transcripts or other unofficial documents. Unofficial transcripts are available to current, active students in Workday only. In Workday, click on Academics. On the right side, you will click “Generate Unofficial Transcript” under Academic Records.
Administrative Holds
Transcripts will not typically be provided for students with administrative holds at the University.
Class Ranks
The student’s rank in class does not appear on the transcript; see the Class Ranks page.
Apostille / Special Certifications
Apostille and other special certifications may require different information and additional charges.
