The Rouse-Bottom Foundation Internships are made possible through the generous support of the Rouse-Bottom Foundation, which is based in the Hampton Roads area. The late Raymond B. Bottom was president and publisher of The Daily Press, based in Newport News, Va. For many years, his family shared ownership of the paper until it was sold to the Tribune Company in 1986. His daughter, Dorothy Rouse-Bottom, a civic leader in Hampton Roads who died recently, was active in the management of the paper and in the Rouse-Bottom Foundation.
Purpose:
To support one or more internships with news organizations. Recently, students have used Rouse-Bottom scholarships for internships at the New York Daily News, Texas Monthly magazine, and NBC in New York.
