Alex S. Jones-Susan E. Tifft Internship
This internship is made possible through a donation by Alex S. Jones ’68. It was established to encourage talented, promising journalism majors who intend to pursue careers as journalists and honorees must serve their internships in print or online newsrooms.
Charles S. and Lee P. Rowe Journalism
This endowment, created by the former editor and co-publisher of the Free-Lance Star in Fredericksburg, Va., supports students with pre-professional educational experiences such as internships and attending professional conferences.
Edward Jackson International Reporting Fund
The fund provides assistance to Journalism majors for working experiences abroad. Normally, the honoree spends the summer between the junior and senior year abroad. The fellowship is appropriate for students seeking support for a newsroom internship abroad.
Clark R. Mollenhoff Award
The Clark R. Mollenhoff Award recognizes an outstanding journalism major at Washington and Lee University who shows unusual journalistic promise and by providing a stipend to enable that student to undertake a project of professional or academic merit.
Allen Schanck Roberts ’85 Scholarship Fund
The Allen Schanck Roberts ’85 Scholarship Fund was established in 1993 by family and friends to honor the memory of Allen Roberts (1963-1993). It provides assistance to undergraduates for an internship abroad.
Todd Smith Fellowship
The Todd Smith Fellowship gives preference to internships – in either journalistic or mass communications fields – that involve international reporting. However, it can also be used to support domestic internships.
Rouse-Bottom Foundation Internships
The Rouse Bottom Foundation provides grants to enable students to undertake journalism internships. Accordingly, honorees must serve their internships in print, broadcast or online newsrooms. Support for this opportunity is given in memory of Raymond B. Bottom who was president and publisher of the Newport News Daily Press in Virginia.
Robert de Maria Intern Scholarship
This scholarship helps students to undertake journalism internships. While preference is given to broadcast internships, honorees also can work in print or online newsrooms.
