Successful STA courses are a result of a collaborative effort between program directors, the Center for International Education staff, departments, and 3rd party providers/universities. All STA courses carry the endorsement of the International Education Committee, the sponsoring Dean, and Department Chair, and have been pre-approved by the Committee on Courses and Degrees.
To access a proposal that you’ve already started, please visit the Off Campus portal.
Initial Request
Faculty with an interest in proposing a new or continued Spring Term Abroad program are invited to complete an Initial Request Form.
Suggested submission date: October 1, two years prior to the desired course date (i.e October 1, 2026 for STA 2028). The absolute final deadline to submit an initial request form is October 31 -- be sure to leave time for signatures! CIE staff will follow up with instructions for accessing the proposal.
Full Proposal
Submit a proposal via the faculty portal once your initial request has been reviewed. Proposals are required each year for both new and continuing Spring Term Abroad programs. If you already started a proposal and need to access it again, vist the Off Campus portal.
Full Proposal submission date: March, the year prior to the desired course date (i.e March 2026 for STA 2027). See timelines below for exact deadlines. Proposals are reviewed by the International Education Committee. After submitting, the faculty member(s) will hear from the International Education Committee, regarding preliminary plans and advice. Once the proposal is approved, additional information will be provided and requested via the faculty portal.
