Spring Term Abroad Resources for Faculty
Spring Term Abroad (STA) is a special part of the Washington and Lee curriculum and experience. STA courses allow students to get an up-close, intensive, and personal experience of the subject matter on-site with a W&L faculty member during the spring term.
Supporting International Students
Resources to support international students.
Hosting International Scholars
Visiting international scholars are non-U.S. citizens who will perform research, teach on a limited basis, and/or provide guest lectures at the invitation of a department. Visiting international scholars are not individuals hired or applying for a position posted on the HR website. The process for inviting a visitor scholar should begin as early as possible with discussions between hosting faculty and department heads. From there, the process will proceed as outlined in the international visitor procedure flowchart.
University-Funded International Travel
Find policy and registration requirements for international travel.
Program Approval Request
Complete this form to propose additional study abroad opportunities for W&L students.
Safety and Security
Safety and security resources for travel and study abroad.
State Department Travel Enrollment Program (STEP)
The Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) is a free service to allow U.S. citizens and nationals traveling abroad to enroll their trip with the nearest U.S. Embassy or Consulate.
Summer Research with Students
The Center for International Education supports a limited number of international student research grants. The international project must be planned and executed under the direction of a member of the W&L faculty.
