Take US 11 North and turn onto Route 631 (Old Buena Vista Road) just after crossing the Maury River at East Lexington. Continue several miles. After passing under I-81, turn left onto Route 608 (South River Road), which runs alongside the river. The stocked fishing area begins here and continues upstream to Marlboro Creek, just west of Fairfield.

Suggestions

Parts of South River near Irish Creek are regularly stocked in the Spring and Fall, and fishing is good, but it can be crowded. The first mile or so of South River after you turn onto Route 608 is posted. The posting is taken very seriously by the owner. Do not be tempted to swim or fish in the posted areas, even though there are some gorgeous pools.
