Lindley Center for Student Wellness
Opening in the fall of 2025, the Lindley Center for Student Wellness will serve as the new home for student health on campus. This state-of-the-art facility draws the Lindley Health and Lindley Counseling centers under one roof, supporting a team approach to caring and creating a seamless holistic healthcare experience for students. The building will also offer improved patient privacy, handicapped and ambulance accessibility and essential new programming and resources to promote student wellbeing.
Be sure to stop by and visit the new facility when you arrive on campus. We can’t wait to see you!
Lindley Health
Lindley Health provides medical evaluation and care of student health concerns in an outpatient setting and when around-the-clock care is needed, in an infirmary setting. It strives to provide comprehensive primary medical care to W&L students, including evaluation and treatment of illness or injury, as well as preventive health services. Nursing assessment and care is available 24/7 and physician/physician assistant/nurse practitioner appointments are available on weekdays.
In the event of emergency medical services beyond the scope of care at the Lindley Health, students will be evaluated and treated at Carilion Rockbridge Community Hospital, located just one mile from campus.
Lindley Counseling
The counseling staff is available to help students with a variety of difficulties that might impact not only a student’s academic work but an overall sense of well-being. Lindley Counseling provides direct psychotherapy services, assessment of academic problems and (with student consent) collaboration with faculty, administrative personnel or parents to provide necessary supports for struggling students. Psychiatric consultation is also available. Appointments can be scheduled by stopping by the Lindley Counseling center or calling 540-458-8590.
Office of Health Promotion
The Office of Health Promotion provides students with information about alcohol and other drugs; sexuality issues including sexual misconduct and sexual harassment; nutrition; stress management; and mental health issues such as depression and eating disorders. The goal of the Office of Health Promotion is to encourage students to make safe choices by having science-based information.
Being Well W&L
Health and well-being are multifaceted concepts influenced by your background, life experiences, and identities. The dimensions will help guide the journey toward well-being at W&L. These dimensions are intertwined and interrelated. Self-care strategies may overlap multiple dimensions to design a thriving well-being plan. We encourage you to find a personal balance that is authentic to you. The Well-being Working Group has been meeting to gather information from students, faculty, and staff. They recommend the university support and members engage in the provided goals and strategies.
