The John Kyle Spencer Endowment Director for Environmental Studies

Robert Humston

Colonnade

The John Kyle Spencer Endowed Director for Environmental Studies was established in 2018 in memory of John Kyle Spencer, a 2013 graduate of Washington and Lee University, through a gift from his mother, Kathelen V. Amos and Daniel P. Amos. The Amos’ gift created a tenure-track faculty position in the Environmental Studies Program and established the first endowed directorship for an existing interdisciplinary program at W&L. The inaugural holder of the directorship is Robert Humston, Professor of Biology and chair, who mentored Spencer during his time as a student.
