The grant assistance policy provides details on how your financial need and grade point average may impact the amount of institutional aid you receive in future years.

Return of Title IV Program Funds

The Financial Aid Office is required by federal statute to recalculate federal financial aid eligibility for students who withdraw, drop out, are dismissed, or take a leave of absence prior to completing 60% of a payment period or term. The federal Title IV financial aid programs must be recalculated in these situations.

Satisfactory Academic Progress for Undergraduates

To be eligible for financial aid, undergraduate students are required by the Department of Education to make satisfactory academic progress towards completion of their degree.

Satisfactory Academic Progress for Law Students

To be eligible for financial aid, law students are required by the Department of Education to make satisfactory academic progress towards completion of their degree.

Student Assistance: General Provisions

Educational Grant Program and Tuition Exchange

Dependents of Washington and Lee employees may be eligible for the W&L educational Grant Program, Tuition Remission, or Tuition Exchange through the Associated Colleges of the South or Great Lakes College Association. Eligibility is dependent on the number of years of employment and the date of first employment.
