Senior Resident Assistant (SRA) for First-Year Students

Members of Housing & Residence Life (HRL) Leadership will fulfill all roles and responsibilities as outlined in the HRL RA/CA position description and employment agreement in addition to their leadership role responsibilities.

Expectations and Responsibilities

  • Serve as a highly visible and approachable senior member of the HRL team.
  • Report directly to the Director of HRL (DHRL) and indirectly to the Associate Director of HRL (ADHRL) and Dean of First-Years (DFY).
  • Be responsible for partnering with campus stakeholders to enhance the residential experience; including, but not limited to Public Safety, Lindley Health and Lindley Counseling Services, and University Facilities Management.
  • Serve as a leader and role model for Head RAs (HRAs), the FYRE
 Coordinator (FYC), CUI Coordinator, and the HRL team as a whole; attend monthly area meetings between Gaines and Graham-Lees (alternating).
  • Work closely and collaboratively with the Senior CA (SCA) and DHRL to facilitate trainings, regular leadership meetings, in-services, staff development opportunities, and professional development initiatives.
  • Articulate and support the educational priority and programming goals outlined in the REM.
  • SRA and/or SCA may be asked to serve on the Student Affairs Committee with the Dean of Students, Executive Committee President, the Student Judicial Council Chairman, the Interfraternity Council President and the Panhellenic Council President to review and improve university policy.
  • Provide frequent performance feedback to HAs and FYC; encourage
 HRAs to provide frequent performance feedback to RAs in their respective areas.
  • Meet regularly with the DHRL and/or DFY to share ideas, discuss campus trends, and evaluate HRL processes and policies.
  • Be familiar with all University and HRL policies and procedures. The SRA will serve as a positive role model in this area and be able to clearly articulate policy and procedure to other staff members.
  • Fulfill reasonable duties as assigned by the DHRL, ADHRL, and DFY.
