Internships and Study Abroad

Cape Town Summer Internship Program

During this 8-week summer program that combines internships and site-based learning, students can earn 6 credits (3 POL, 3 BUS) while developing a deeper understanding of the business climate, history and culture of Cape Town, South Africa.  Located at the tip of the African continent, Cape Town has a vibrant start-up culture with a growing emphasis on social entrepreneurship which affords students opportunities to be matched with NGO’s and businesses based upon their professional interests. In addition, students will participate in a number of activities designed to foster a deeper understanding of South Africa’s culture, history, ecology and business environment.  The marquee event will be an excursion along the south-eastern coast of South Africa with accommodations/safari at a private game reserve. This program is ideal for rising juniors and seniors with an interest in healthcare, business, education, arts, or economic policy.

London Internship Program

The Williams School coordinates Washington and Lee's eight-week program that combines classroom study and internships with firms in and around London. In addition to the internship and classes, students are able to participate in London Week, which is an opportunity to visit Washington and Lee alumni at their jobs and learn more about specific industries. The marquee event during London Week is an alumni reception.
