Date: October 26, 2018
We have received reports of leafleting today by the Ku Klux Klan on and around our campus. The views espoused by the KKK and other hate groups are abhorrent and antithetical to the values of Washington and Lee.
The safety of our students and employees is our top priority. Our Public Safety office is coordinating with local law enforcement to investigate the situation and to take necessary precautions to maintain the safety of our community.
Please be aware of the following resources:
- Security escorts are available 24/7 to those who would like one. Call Public Safety at 540-458-8999 (x8999 on campus). Virtual escorts and emergency help are also available via the LiveSafe app.
- There is a Student Affairs Dean on Call 24/7. The dean can be reached through Public Safety at x8999.
- Students living off campus who have security concerns should contact the local police department at 540-463-9177. In an emergency situation off campus, dial 911 immediately.
If you have any other questions regarding safety procedures, please don't hesitate to contact the Dean of Students Office at 540-458-8754 (x8754 on campus) or Ethan Kipnes, director of public safety, at x8999.
