24 Student Athlete Group 24 student athlete group is an advocacy and support group for student athletes on campus.

African Society The African Society is a cultural student organization dedicated to celebrating African heritage and promoting unity among students of African descent. We host events, discussions, and showcases that highlight Africa’s rich diversity, traditions, and contemporary issues. Open to all, we create a welcoming space for cultural exchange and community building.

Afro Rhythm Afro Rhythm is an all-inclusive African dance club. We celebrate African culture through dance classes, engaging workshops, and vibrant campus performances. Our club offers a relaxed, non-competitive environment where all students can explore traditional and contemporary African dances, build community, and promote cultural awareness. Join us to express creativity, relieve stress, and connect with diverse cultures while enriching our campus life.

Alexander Hamilton Society We are a group of students interested in foreign policy, national security, and economic statecraft. Our discussions and the guests we will invite to campus will focus on America’s role in the world and the unique challenges America faces today. We will guide our discussions through news articles, essays, and government reports. Our guests will be professionals who work in the international relations space, whether formerly in government or at a think tank.

American Heart Association Heart Club The American Heart Association (AHA) Heart Club is an organization that is focused on providing the W&L and Lexington community with accessible and affordable CPR training as well as volunteering and donating to charities that encourage heart-healthy habits. We also make sure to educate our community about heart-healthy habits so that we can all keep our cardiovascular system as strong as possible.

Ampersand Magazine Ampersand (&) is Washington and Lee University’s student-run literary publication devoted to printing exceptional works of art, poetry and prose. &’s central goal is to provide the Washington and Lee campus with a platform for students to showcase their art, writings, and music. & seeks to showcase work from students regardless of their field of study, and aims to promote awareness and appreciation of the creative capacities of the greater community.

Around The Globe Dance Organization (ATG) Around The Globe (ATG) Dance Organization was founded at Washington and Lee University in 2022 to create a diverse and welcoming space where students from multicultural backgrounds can connect to their roots through dance. During our events, students perform cultural dances, learn about music and movement from every corner of the world, and connect by sharing the dance floor with each other.

Association of Latino Professionals for America (ALPFA) The ALPFA chapter at Washington and Lee empowers Latino students and their allies through leadership, mentorship, and career development. As part of the nation’s first Latino professional association, ALPFA provides exclusive networking, conferences, seminars, and corporate recruitment training preparation. Beyond careers, ALPFA fosters a community of self-sufficient and ambitious leaders dedicated to breaking barriers and expanding Latino representation in professional spaces. Through service, collaboration, and mentorship, ALPFA shapes today’s Latino students into tomorrow’s change-makers.

Best Buddies Club Best Buddies at Washington and Lee University fosters inclusive friendships between students and individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities through fun and engaging group activities. Members come together for events, games, outings, and shared experiences that promote connection, empathy, and understanding.

Black Diamond Society The society arose from the need to provide comfort, empowerment, and solidarity for women navigating the unique challenges of marginalized spaces at a predominantly white institution. Built on the premise of fostering belonging among peers who share similar experiences, the Black Diamond Society seeks to educate the Washington and Lee campus and the greater Lexington community about the significance of its mission. The society aims not only to support its members but also to serve as a beacon of hope and inspiration for children of color in the Lexington community.

Blue Ridge Mile The Blue Ridge Mile Clinic, in collaboration with Drive-To-Work, aims to support clients in navigating the steps required to obtain or reinstate a driver’s license, learn about and attempt to address the systematic and personal challenges of the processes, and gain an understanding of the district court and DMV practices.

Board Game Club WLU Board Game Club is a welcoming space where students and community members meet to play a board games from a wide range of complexity levels. The club offers a wide catalogue of games ranging from heavy strategy to light party games, and promotes participation at all levels regardless of skill level. Moreover the club is great at teaching new games. The club host weekly meetings to play games, and helps schedule more focused game nights.

Burish Leadership Service Internship The Burish Leadership Service Committee is dedicated to serving Rockbridge County Schools through volunteer work and charitable giving. Operating with the guidance of the W&L Department of Education Studies, interns recruit and coordinate volunteers to assist with the needs of classroom teachers and tutor at after-school programs.

Campus Kitchen The Campus Kitchen mission is to strengthen bodies, empower minds, and build communities through food. During students’ time with CKWL, they develop meaningful relationships with clients that go beyond service. Our students learn to think critically about the variety of ways that they can have a lasting impact within our community by supporting existing organizations and projects.

Campus Liberty Coalition The Campus Liberty coalition aims to serve as a non-party affiliated conservative organization for students. We coordinate with both undergraduate and law student organizations to help promote our values on campus.

Canning Club Canning Club brings together students who enjoy preserving food, learning traditional skills, and building community through hands-on activities. We will learn about canning fruits, vegetables, jams, and more, with a focus on sustainability, food safety, and seasonal eating. We welcome experienced canners and anyone who is curious to try it out. Our club will offers a fun, collaborative space to share knowledge, recipes, and homemade goods. All students are welcome!

Cards Club The Card Games Club brings students together to play and learn a variety of card games—from classics like Poker and Spades to new favorites and cultural games. Open to all skill levels, the club fosters community, strategic thinking, and fun competition. Whether you’re looking to unwind or get serious about your skills, come shuffle up and join us! Regular meetings and game nights make it a great space to connect and unwind.

CARE Rockbridge Student Branch The main organizer of the annual community Martin Luther King Jr. Parade, CARE Rockbridge serves as a nonprofit community organization that educates the Lexington and greater Rockbridge community of what diversity and inclusivity can mean. As a student branch of this community organization, the CARE Rockbridge Student Branch attempts to bring W&L students further into the cause by providing volunteering and fundraising opportunities for college students interested in supporting.

Chanoyu Tea Society Open to any interested students, Chanoyu Tea Society specializes in the art of chanoyu, the Japanese tea ceremony that dates to 12thcentury Japan. With the goal of increasing the exposure of the Japanese tea ceremony and culture to the W&L community and surrounding Rockbridge area, the group focuses their study on the procedure of preparing tea, the architecture of the tearoom, the culinary arts of tea sweets and the kaiseki meal, and the history and philosophy of tea.

Chemistry Club The Chemistry Club’s mission is to promote interest and appreciation for chemistry and its applications, while providing a place for people who share this interest to meet and connect with one another. As an organization, we hold a variety of community-wide chemistry-related events that present chemistry in an engaging and educational fashion.

Chess Club

Chinese Club Chinese Language and Culture Club strives to promote the study and enjoyment of Chinese language and culture on campus. We are dedicated to hosting various cultural activities, celebrating Chinese festivals, assisting in the basic study of Mandarin and other dialects, educating on Chinese career opportunities, and promoting exchange of experience and perspective from Chinese international students and peers of Chinese descent. People from all backgrounds are welcome to participate in events and learn about China’s arts, music, traditions, and languages.

Chocolate Milk Society (CMS) The Chocolate Milk Society focuses on fostering community and connection through casual, inclusive social gatherings centered around the shared enjoyment of chocolate milk.

Climate Alliance

Club Archery A group of students who meet weekly for the purpose of archery.

Club Basketball W&L Club Basketball encourages participation from all students through open pickup basketball and a select team that gets to travel and play other universities club basketball teams.

Club Cheerleading W&L Club Cheerleading promotes school spirit and pride through cheer, dance, and stunt performance at home football and basketball games, as well as other school events. It emphasizes dedication, teamwork, and athleticism in order to represent the school. Summer tryouts open to all students.

Club Clay Shooting (Sporting Clays) The W&L Shooting Team competes in the sporting clays division of the USA College Clay Target League.

Club Climbing (Crux) Crux Climbing is a group that meets twice a week to climb at the outing club. We go on off-campus climbing trips both around Lexington as well as in West Virginia. We focus on building strength and technique, teaching new climbers the basic skills of climbing, and creating an inclusive group of students who have a shared passion for climbing.

Club Cricket Washington and Lee’s Cricket Club is an organization for students and faculty to play the game of cricket here on campus. The Cricket Club fosters community, inclusivity, and cross-cultural exchange while offering an opportunity for players of all skill levels—whether new to the sport or experienced enthusiasts—to come together, develop their skills, and enjoy the spirit of cricket.

Club CrossFit (Liberty Hall CrossFit) Liberty Hall CrossFit Club promotes wellness, resilience, and leadership through student-led CrossFit workouts. Open to all levels, the club offers structured, scalable fitness programming designed to support both recreational and competitive athletes while building community, confidence, and strength.

Club Cycling Club Cycling is a student-led club that promotes biking for fun, fitness, and adventure. We organize group rides, trail-building days, skills clinics, and trips for cyclists of all levels, from beginners to racers.

Club Disc Golf The WLU Disc Golf Club seeks to provide an outlet for disc golf players to connect and play the sport together while simultaneously providing a welcoming environment to beginner players in the interest of growing the sport.

Club Martial Arts (Martial Arts Club) The W&L Martial Arts Club aims to create an inclusive, engaging, and fun environment where students of all abilities and experiences can learn, improve, and share martial arts and self defense skills. The Martial Arts Club gives students the opportunity to learn and develop new martial arts skills, or teach their peers from their own unique experiences.

Club Pickleball Club Pickleball is an organization that allows for people who want to learn how to play or love the sport already to come together to play games.

Club Ping Pong Club Ping Pong provides both a casual and competitive atmosphere for both experienced and inexperienced players.

Club Roundnet We are a club sport which was founded in 2023 in order to bring the growing sport of roundnet to Washington and Lee University. There was a critical gap in our on-campus organizations and we saw an opportunity to fill that by creating a club for anyone who wants to play roundnet!

Club Running Club Running is an organization which supports the training and racing of students at a club level. Members can participate in cross country races against other universities in the fall and in track racing throughout the winter and spring. The club meets regularly for group runs, workouts, and additional events.

Club Ski and Snowboard Club Ski and Snowboard is Washington and Lee’s competitive ski and snowboard team. We strive to compete at the regional, conference, and national level while fostering healthy competition on and off the snow. We also offer recreational opportunities for affordable access to snow sports. We welcome those with past racing experience as well as skiiers and snowboarders of all experience levels

Club Soccer This club soccer team provides competitive, student-led opportunities to play soccer beyond the intramural level. We play casual pickup twice weekly for the whole student body to participate in, and the team practices regularly and competes against other colleges in regional leagues or tournaments.

Club Women’s Soccer W&L Women’s Club Soccer aims to create a fun, safe, and positive environment for exclusively female players at Washington and Lee, where players can form deep connections with one another, train, be physically active, compete with other nearby schools, have a chance to travel for games, and play a lot of soccer.

Club Women’s Softball W&L’s club women’s fastpitch softball team, founded 2022. We compete intercollegiately across the state. Practices are twice a week in the fall and spring. All levels of experience welcome!

Club Squash Club Squash is a competitive, yet welcoming team open to all skill levels. We compete against a variety of schools throughout the season, culminating in College Nationals at the end of the year.

Club Swimming During our season, we regularly meet to swim multiple times a week, encompassing a wide range of swimming abilities and corresponding workouts.

Club Men’s Volleyball This is a club volleyball team where we practice three times a week for two hours each. We also compete in scrimmages and tournaments with other schools as well.

Club Women’s Volleyball This is a club volleyball team where we practice three times a week for two hours each. We also compete in scrimmages and tournaments with other schools as well.

Club Women’s Wrestling The W&L Women’s Wrestling Club is an organization dedicated to empowering women through the sport of wrestling. Our club provides a space for skill development, physical conditioning, and community building. Whether you’re an experienced wrestler or new to the sport, we welcome all members to train, compete, and grow together in a supportive and inclusive environment.

College Democrats College Democrats works to promote civic engagement and advance the ideals of the Democratic Party both on campus and throughout the Lexington community and beyond. Through advocacy, education, and organizing, we aim to empower students and local residents to get involved in the political process and make their voices heard. We also host events that make it easy and fun to engage with politics alongside like-minded people.

College Republicans Washington and Lee University’s College Republicans chapter exists to educate and motivate students to become more politically involved and, following the values of the Republican Party, promote liberty, economic prosperity, and the preservation of American values and traditions.

Compost Crew Compost Crew is a student-led organization operated by the Office of Sustainability and Energy Education (OSEE). Compost Crew interns collect all food waste and to-go servingware from campus dining facilities and transport it for processing at the Campus Garden. The compost breaks down into rich soil that is applied to the Campus Garden, increasing the circularity and sustainability of W&L’s on-campus food system.

Comunidad Latina Estudiantil (CLE) La Comunidad Latina Estudiantil (CLE) promotes and shares diverse Latino cultures by providing a space for expression and engagement for Latino students and anyone interested in the culture. Through events and community outreach, CLE aims to increase awareness and foster a positive image of the Latino community, enriching Washington and Lee University and the community at large.

Contact Committee The Contact Committee’s mission is “Bringing the World to Lexington” by hosting high-profile guest speakers who inspire and inform the W&L community. Past speakers include Ross Lynch, Ben & Jerry, and Laverne Cox. The committee selects, invites, and coordinates campus-wide events that spark conversation and encourage new perspectives. Diversified Capital Group Diversified Capital Group was founded to reduce the gap in student preparation amongst students interested in the financial pre-professional societies on campus. We are broken down into three pillars, those being investing education, active investment management and career and professional development.

Duck’s Union of Crocheting, Knitting, and Sewing (DUCKS) Duck’s Union of Crocheting, Knitting, and Sewing (DUCKS) serves as a space at Washington and Lee for students, faculty, community members to create, learn about, and share their passions for the fiber arts. DUCKS strives to make engaging fiber arts accessible for all by lending materials, a donation system, holding workshops, and leading collaborations with other student-led and locally owned businesses and organizations.

Ducks Unlimited Ducks Unlimited conserves, restores, and manages wetlands and associated habitats for North America’s waterfowl. As a University chapter, we directly communicate with the national non-profit to raise money and fulfill our conservation goals.

Empower Through Health at W&L This is a University chapter of the 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization Empower Through Health which seeks to provide medical care to small villages in rural Uganda. This organization is responsible for designing and executing research project which will save lives and lead to longer health outcomes. This organization seeks to send chapter members to rural Uganda on a yearly basis where they will live up to seven weeks executing the Empower Through Health’s designated research projects.

Engineering Community Development (ECD) ECD performs engineering-related community service work in the local community and abroad, from simple volunteering to consulting and full-on project management. Members plan and carry out everything from outreach, analysis, and design to fundraising and execution. In this way, ECD improves communities, all the while providing valuable real-world experience for students. Recent projects include pedestrian bridge design for a local county, elementary afterschool STEM education, and building raised beds and a bat house for Campus Garden.

English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) program strives to facilitate communication among the rural and increasingly diverse language communities of Rockbridge County. We aim to foster multilingualism and greater social equity in our area through language learning and literacy initiatives. While we reject the imposition of English, we believe that English-language competency is important for accessing vital health, human, and education services, particularly given our rural location. We support and collaborate with speakers of many languages.

Ethics Bowl The W&L Ethics Bowl team focuses on competing in ethics bowl tournaments around the country by discussing a variety of ethical dilemmas. Tournament topics can range from the ethics of medicine to the use of AI and everything in between. We hold weekly practices in the buildup to competitions to prepare team members by practicing our arguments and oratorical skills.

Ethics Discussion Group A casual, student-led group to explore moral questions through open conversation. We focus on thoughtful dialogue, diverse viewpoints, and building community—no lectures, no pressure, just meaningful discussions about life and ethics.

Fancy Dress The Fancy Dress Ball committee plans, designs, and organizes the school’s longest and largest tradition. Since 1907, Washington and Lee has hosted this ball as an exciting night for the student body. Each year, the committee chooses a theme for the ball and picks decor, design and memorabilia accordingly.

Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) FCA meets weekly, providing a space for Christian athletes to connect, grow in their faith, and build community. Each meeting features a scripture lesson linked to a sports moment, encouraging spiritual growth through relatable experiences. It’s a great place for fellowship, discussion, and deepening one’s relationship with God alongside fellow athletes.

Film Society The Film Society is a club meant to enable students to pursue their interests in the creation and analysis of film. Through filmmaking on campus, trips to timed filmmaking competitions, and movie screenings, the film society works to empower students to express themselves through film. We hope to provide a space where students can learn all aspects of film creation such as technical equipment operation, screenwriting, directing, and cinematography. Students of all experience levels are welcome to participate.

First-Year Orientation Committee (FYOC) The First-Year Orientation Committee (FYOC) at Washington and Lee University facilitates orientation programming to help first-year students transition smoothly into college life. In collaboration with the First-Year Experience Team, FYOC organizes welcoming events, supports Leading Edge experiences, and fosters community through peer leadership. With over 100 student members, including co-chairs and team leaders, FYOC embodies W&L’s commitment to warmth, connection, and student engagement from the moment new students arrive on campus.

First-Year Residential Experience Board (FYRE) The First-Year Residential Experience (FYRE) Board is a group of first-year students and a Resident Advisor who plan fun, engaging events like the Fall Festival, Pool Party, and Spring Carnival. The board works to build community, foster connections, and make the first-year experience more meaningful. Members gain early leadership experience by creating programs that reflect the needs and interests of their peers, helping shape a supportive and vibrant residential environment at Washington and Lee.

Fly Fishing Club The Fly Fishing Club is designed to promote fellowship among like-minded W&L students who enjoy fishing. We orchestrate regular fishing trips and conservation projects, and we teach casting and fly-tying clinics. We occasionally compete with VMI’s fly fishing club in tournaments. Whether you’re a novice or experienced, all are encouraged to join the Fly Fishing Club.

Friday Underground (FUDG) Friday Underground (FUDG) is a social space in the ARC House basement where students can unwind and socialize in an alcohol- and substance-free environment. FUDG offers snacks, drinks, board games, and more for attendees to enjoy. FUDG often collaborates with other organizations, including the Chocolate Milk Society and WLU Gaming Club, to host unique events. Doors are open for all from 8 PM to 10 PM!

Friends of MSF The Friends of MSF chapter aims to educate and raise awareness about Doctors Without Borders’ medical and humanitarian work across the globe on our campus. We support MSF by holding fundraisers, organizing speaker events, and participating in MSF USA’s advocacy programming.

Gaming Club Washington and Lee Gaming Club is the official gaming club of Washington and Lee University. We are committed to serving as an avenue for people who enjoy tabletop and video gaming. We provide a space for community bonding and engagements for students. As a club, we host school-wide gaming events and provide a rental service for video games.

Gender Action Group (GAG) Gender Action Group aims to provide a forum for critical thinking about gender issues, run campus events that promote a healthy atmosphere for all students, and anticipate gender problems before they happen and thereby prevent further entrenchment of negative gender dynamics.

General Activities Board (GAB) ​GAB is a student organization whose mission is to promote campus unity and school spirit through concerts. Past GAB events include a Battle of the Bands concert series highlighting student bands, a winter concert in collaboration with Fancy Dress, and a spring music festival, LexFest. Throughout the year, we highlight different genres and facilitate partnerships to appeal to all student demographics.

General Admission General Admission was founded in 1995 as Washington and Lee’s first co-ed a cappella group and remains W&L’s only coed and competitive group. We have 15 members from across the country including Texas, Florida, and more. We provide entertainment for the W&L and Rockbridge community at concerts and charity events. Beyond Rockbridge County, we audition and compete annually at the International Championships of Collegiate A Cappella (ICCAs). We enjoy and look forward to bringing joy to our community through song.

General Repairs We seek to help those in the community by providing local home repair requests with the help of the Rockbridge Area Habitat for Humanity. We conduct wheelchair ramp installations, roof repairs, etc. to reinstate safety and accessibility in Rockbridge homes.

Generals Connect Generals Connect is group of service-oriented students that facilitate friendships with local senior citizens, seeking to learn from older generations while supporting the physical, mental, and social health of aging members of our Lexington community.

GenTech A space, irrespective of major, to learn and grow in the latest technology.

German Club Welcome to the W&L German Club! As an organization, the German Club hosts events centered around holidays, traditions, art, film, and food related to German-speaking countries. Come learn more about one of the most commonly spoken languages in Europe and how the German language has influenced both modern American and European culture.

Global Medical Brigades Global Medical Brigades is a student-led organization dedicated to improving healthcare access in underserved communities through international service trips and sustainable public health initiatives. Open to students of all majors, the chapter provides opportunities to support local professionals abroad, learn about global health disparities, and promote health equity.

Green Cup Organization The Green Cup Organization promotes sustainability in W&L’s social scene by reducing waste at Greek, themed, and sports events. We provide waste management solutions and promote reusable materials to make events cleaner, greener, and easier to manage. Our mission is to create an environmentally responsible social culture while educating students on sustainable practices. GCO welcomes all students interested in contributing to a cleaner, greener campus, regardless of affiliation with any organization or sport

Habitat for Humanity Club W&L Habitat for Humanity organizes weekly student volunteer groups to help build homes for low-income families in Rockbridge County.

Helping Every Animal Reach Tomorrow (HEART) Rockbridge area has a huge presence of animals that make up the community, a large proportion being homeless animals. Many shelters do not have the resources to provide adequate care for these homeless animals. HEART’s mission is to support these animal shelters and related organizations through volunteer work, fundraising efforts, and other services. We also aim to raise awareness about animal welfare throughout Rockbridge County and the surrounding areas.

Hillel Washington and Lee Hillel is established to provide facilities, guidance and organization for religious, cultural, educational, social, community service, and interfaith activities for Jewish students, Washington and Lee University, and the Jewish community of Rockbridge County. W&L Hillel is dedicated to building Jewish identity and community while nurturing intellectual and spiritual growth.

Hip Hop Club This organization is a dance club that meets 1-2x a week where students can learn short and fun hip-hop dances. While we mainly focus on hip-hop, we will also explore other styles such as K-pop and Afrobeat, even TikTok dances! This organization is for all levels, and it is meant to inspire and challenge students to learn something new, be creative, and have fun!

Historical Review (WLHR) The Washington and Lee Historical Review creates a biannual publication which highlights exemplary undergraduate historical research. The WLHR’s Leadership Committee works closely with its Staff Editors to edit and curate submissions from W&L students and undergraduates from other institutions. WLHR will increase historical literacy through its publication as well as working through various programs with W&L’s History Department.

History Club The History Club is a student lead organization that aims to foster a deeper understanding and appreciation of history. Often in partnership with other groups, the history club hosts cultural events, trivia nights, field trips, and faculty-student based activities. By bringing together students who share a passion for the past, we hope to encourage curiosity, critical thinking, and create a meaningful dialogue about the different cultures of the world.

Ignite Ignite is a student organization at Washington and Lee University dedicated to raising awareness and funds for pediatric cancer patients and their families. Through various fundraising events, including an annual 24-hour dance marathon, and collaborations with campus and community groups, Ignite supports the Four Diamonds Fund, helping cover medical expenses and providing emotional support to families in need. Our mission is to foster hope, resilience, and unity within our community as we work toward a future without pediatric cancer.

ILOVEWATER ILOVEWATER is a club that simply promotes drinking water. Water is essential to our lives, but many pass over water for less healthy beverages. So, we will work to ensure that everyone’s first choice in beverage is a glass of water. Our larger goal is to make water more accessible for everyone through fundraisers, water bottle donations, and community outreach.

InGeneral Magazine InGeneral is Washington and Lee University’s student-life magazine. It serves to educate the W&L and greater Lexington community through providing news and interest pieces relevant to students, faculty, and Lexington residents. We show case everything from issues on campus to fashion and inspirational community leaders. With biannual publications and a digital presence, InGeneral produces in-depth articles that span several months’ work and reporting. InGeneral empowers W&L’s writers, editors, graphic designers, and photographers by showcasing their talents for all to see.

Interfaith Speaking Series The Interfaith Speaking Series provides a platform for prominent people of faith to connect with our campus community through formal and informal events.

IRIE IRIE is a space for Caribbean students to foster community and bring awareness to the cultural and historical components of the Caribbean. The word Irie is of Caribbean origin and is used to refer to a state of harmony and peace, tenets we aspire to uphold within the existence of our club. We believe that in order to cultivate community we must strive for social and civic improvement. We plan to fulfill our mission through scholarship fundraisers, fellowshipping events, Reggaefest, Independence Day Celebrations, Carnival, education, music, food, and dance.

Jubilee Jubilee brings together students with treble voices to create music together, enriching the musical culture of the university. Together, participants practice a cappella techniques through a fun and accessible group atmosphere.

Latter-day Saint Student Association (LDSSA) The LDSSA (Latter-day Saint Student Association) at Washington and Lee University is a community of students who support each other in living gospel-centered lives, strengthening faith in Jesus Christ, and building friendships. We welcome all who are interested in learning about or growing in the teachings of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Through uplifting activities, service, and spiritual discussions, LDSSA fosters belonging and purpose on campus.

LEAD The LEAD Program is a two-year, comprehensive leadership program purposed to empower students to discover their potential and develop their skills as leaders. The program aims to enhance student learning and development in areas of self-knowledge and leadership competence through various workshops, team-building exercises, roundtable discussions, reflective activities, and service.

Makers Club The Makers Club strives to educate the student body about the skills of woodworking, the proper and safe operation of power tools, and the transformation of ideas into reality. We engage in educational workshops, community outreach projects, and individual custom projects. No one is born a carpenter, but we firmly believe anyone can build something meaningful.

Mechanical Design Club (MDC) The Mechanical Design Club brings together students to design, build, and compete in cutting-edge engineering challenges like Shell Eco-marathon and MATE ROV. Members gain hands-on experience in CAD, prototyping, and teamwork while tackling real-world mechanical and electrical design problems.

Mock Convention (Mock Con) The Washington and Lee University Mock Convention is a mock presidential nominating convention held every four years by the students of W&L. Its goal is to predict who the party out of power will nominate to run for President of the United States.

Mock Trial W&L Mock Trial is a co-curricular organization that offers undergraduate students the opportunity to prepare and engage in competitive trial simulations with universities around the nation. We strive to represent W&L at the highest level of competition by facing the top programs in the United States. Most importantly, we seek to develop our members’ critical thinking and public speaking skills, further their understanding of the American justice system, encourage sportsmanship, excellence, and professionalism, and foster a supportive atmosphere.

Model UN The Model UN Club empowers students to become informed global citizens through simulations of the United Nations, where members represent countries or individuals. By attending conferences, students build leadership, critical thinking, and collaboration skills while deepening their understanding of international relations and diplomacy.

Morgan’s Message Morgan’s Message is a nonprofit organization dedicated to honoring Morgan Rodgers, a Duke University lacrosse player who died by suicide in 2019. The organization seeks to eliminate the stigma surrounding mental health in athletics. Our chapter hosts community-building events and shares resources to normalize conversations about mental health and ensure that mental well-being is valued just as much as physical health in the student-athlete experience.

Mudd Journal of Ethics The Mudd Undergraduate Journal of Ethics is a student-led publication at Washington and Lee University that explores ethical questions across disciplines. In partnership with the Mudd Center for Ethics, the journal features academic and creative works—essays, poetry, fiction, and art—that engage with annual themes or broader moral issues.

Muslim Student Association (MSA) The Muslim Student Association (MSA) is a community for Muslim students to connect, practice their faith, and share Islamic culture with others. We host group prayers, educational events, and social gatherings to support Muslim life on campus and encourage understanding across all backgrounds.

Nabors Service League The Nabors Service League, in collaboration with community-based agencies, connects students with opportunities to learn, serve, and reflect on issues of poverty and inequality. We have four active committees: Service, Educational Programming, Friends of Nabors, and Good Nabors Mentorship.

National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP) NMDP Chapter at W&L strives to save lives by educating and recruiting committed members to join the NMDP Registry. The NMDP Registry contains potential bone marrow donors for patients suffering from blood diseases.

Native American Student Organization (NASO) The Native American Student Organization strives to make W&L more vibrant and welcoming through promoting visibility and connection for our Native American community and allies.

Orthodox Christian Fellowship Orthodox Christian Fellowship is a joint fellowship group for Washington and Lee University and the Virginia Military Institute that allows the Orthodox students of both institutions to join together, worship Christ, and grow closer to the faith and the Church.

Pan Asian Association for Cultural Exchange (PAACE) PAACE (Pan-Asian Association for Cultural Exchange) is a student-led organization that promotes cultural understanding and appreciation of Asian and Asian American identities. Through interactive events, performances, discussions, and collaborations, PAACE fosters an inclusive space for dialogue, celebration, and community engagement across cultures at W&L.

Peer Connections (PC) The PC program is an organization of W&L students who volunteer their time to support the first years. We take pride in becoming valuable parts of the residence hall communities where we mentor our residents and make connections.

Perry Minority Athletic Coalition (PMAC) Our mission is to enhance the community for underrepresented student-athletes and increase conversation about diversity and inclusion on campus. Through peer led support meetings for athletes, community service and hosting campus wide events, we desire to initiate these important conversations about diversity in athletics and campus-wide.

Phi Alpha Delta Pre-Law Fraternity, International (PAD) Phi Alpha Delta Pre-Law Franternity is an international preprofessional organization open to all students which provides to its members meetings with lawyers from across the country, additional alumni connections, discounted LSAT prep, and application fee waivers for numerous high-tier law schools. Students actively engaged with the organzation offered regular meetings which grant them access to live Q&A’s with W&L and PAD alumni. Despite being called a “fraternity,” PAD is not a greek organization and does not preclude membership in a IFC, NPHC, or Panhellenic Council organization.

Pluma Pluma is a student-run Spanish publication at Washington and Lee University. We are dedicated to providing a platform for Spanish speakers and Spanish students to access thought-provoking poetry and engaging stories by students.

Poetry Club Poetry Club is an organization dedicated to the power of poetry. In this club, we will read, write, and analyze numerous poems as a group to enhance each member’s poetic and creative skills, become more comfortable with vulnerability, get to know ourselves and each other better, and be more present overall.

Poker Club The University Poker Club at Washington and Lee provides a fun and inclusive space for students to put strategic thinking, risk management, and decision-making skills into practice through the game of poker. Open to all skill levels, the club hosts tournaments, learning sessions, and social events. Our mission is to enhance critical thinking while fostering a supportive community of poker enthusiasts.

Political Review The Washington and Lee Political Review is a peer-reviewed undergraduate academic journal with a clear emphasis on political science and political theory. The Review showcases exceptional undergraduate scholarship and serves as an ambassador to the academic community at large. The Political Review is a non-partisan journal committed to publishing the academic work students all areas of politics and encouraging civil campus discourse.

Pre-Dental Club The Washington and Lee University Pre-Dental Club is a student-run organization, which intends to assist Washington and Lee University pre-dental students in their overall preparation for dental school and a career in dentistry. It fosters the interests and welfare of students pursuing careers in dentistry. It does so by providing students with information, instruction, encouragement, and services.

Pre-Health Club The Pre-Health Club is designed to being together any and all students that are interested in a career focusing around health/healthcare field. Workshops, alumni and professionals are contacted and will talk or help give experiences to our students to help them figure out where in the health field they want to devote their time.

Pre-Law Society We look to aid current undergraduates in their pursuit of a pre-law career path by fostering an environment for students to discuss law, their law school application process, LSAT prep, network with alumni and current law school students, as well as provide aid in developing a love for the law.

Pre-Military Society The Pre-Military Society connects students interested in military service, including W&L students enrolled in ROTC through VMI, as well as other students who aspire to become military professionals. The organization provides a supportive network of students, faculty, and alumni to promote leadership development, connect members with veteran alumni for mentorship, and bring together students who share a commitment to serving the country.

Pre-PA Advising Club Through discussion, advising, immersion, and speakers, we seek to provide a forum for members to be able to maximize their planning and apply to PA school knowing all the variable requirements.

Promise Committee The Promise Committee is made up of students who want to keep our campus safe and help our community make the promise to not be impaired when driving. This includes raising awareness about the dangers of impaired driving and setting an example for others to follow.

Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) PRSSA is the student chapter of the Public Relations Society of America, connecting students with hands-on experience in public relations, communications, and marketing. We work with local clubs, bands, and businesses in Lexington to develop real campaigns. Weekly meetings involve brainstorming, strategy, and collaboration with clients. It’s a great way to build your portfolio, gain professional experience, and explore the world of PR.

Queer Liberation Alliance (QLA) Queer Liberation Alliance is W&L’s queer and trans student union dedicated to meeting the needs of LGBTQ+ students, faculty, and community members. We focus on community building for LGBTQ+ persons and our allies, as well as working towards raising visibility on campus and improving campus policies.

QuestBridge Scholars (QSN) The QuestBridge Scholars Network (QSN) is composed of QuestBridge National College Match Finalists and their allies currently enrolled in W&L through the Match, Regular Decision, or other admissions processes. A part of a national community, QB aims to support members through multiple levels of engagement, including self-engagement towards holistic growth, network engagement with the QSN community, and civic engagement through public service.

Red Cross Humanitarian Service Club The Washington and Lee Humanitarian Service Club is guided by the fundamental principles of the American Red Cross and its mission to prevent and alleviate human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power and generosity of volunteers to learn, practice, and exemplify humanitarian values through local and regional community service projects. Our organization works closely with the Southwest Virginia Red Cross chapter to assist the American Red Cross with their relief efforts and other campaigns.

Reformed University Fellowship (RUF) RUF at W&L is a community of students coming alive to the love of God, and learning to love God, each other, and the campus. RUF a safe and welcoming place for non-Christians and Christians to belong, ask questions, and learn how to follow Jesus. Large Groups are Tuesdays at 8pm in the Law School Pavilion (beside the football field).

Remote Area Medical Remote Area Medical (RAM) is a non-profit provider of mobile medical clinics, where volunteer health care professionals come together to deliver free dental, vision, and medical care to under-served and uninsured individuals. Washington and Lee University RAM is a student-run organization, which intends to connect W&L University students with volunteer opportunities available at RAM clinics.

Repertory Dance Club (RDC) The Repertory Dance Club (RDC) is committed to serving the wider W&L community by providing dance opportunities for undergraduate and law students alike. Whether this is through performance in collaboration with the dance company, bringing in guest artists who offer classes, traveling to dance competitions/conferences, or other opportunities, RDC makes dance accessible for all.

Ring-Tum Phi The Ring-tum Phi is a reliable source of information that creates accountability and relentlessly reports to uncover stories representing all sides of campus life. Reporters cover not only the breaking news that affects daily campus life but also the broader patterns that shape the W&L community. Our work is held to the highest ethical standards as we train the next generation of journalists, and sustainable, independent operation allows us to continue telling stories by and for the students.

Rocketry Club Washington and Lee’s Rocketry Club introduces students to amateur rocketry, provides opportunities for members to pursue NAR or TRA high power rocketry certifications, as well as competes in collegiate competitions. Most recently, the club competed in the 2023 Spaceport America Cup in New Mexico, launching their 10.5 ft tall Traveler V rocket to over 11,000 ft.

Salam Salam is a student organization at Washington and Lee University that fosters community for students and promotes understanding of culture on campus. Through weekly gatherings, communal Iftars, and guest speaker events, Salam creates a welcoming space for dialogue, learning, and cultural celebration.

Screaming Minks Rugby Club The W&L Screaming Minks, founded in 1966, are Washington and Lee University’s men’s club rugby team. Known for their grit, camaraderie, and unmatched spirit on and off the field, the Minks compete fiercely across the Southeast. With a legacy spanning generations, they blend tradition with tenacity—bringing intensity to every match and fun to every post-game. More than just a team, the Screaming Minks are a brotherhood built on toughness, loyalty, and a love for the game.

Sexual Health Awareness Group (SHAG) Year-round but especially during its annual Sex Week, W&L’s SHAG hosts inclusive, entertaining, and educational programming aimed to promote awareness about reproductive health, diverse identities, and healthy relationships of all kinds. SHAG strongly believes in treating others and their lifestyles with love, kindness, respect, and compassion — through collaborations with W&L Student Health and other organizations, SHAG distributes medically accurate information and fosters open dialogue on the topics of love, sex, and intimacy.

Showrunners Theater Club Showrunners Theater Club is a community for W&L students who share a passion for theater. Beyond the theater productions themselves, the club brings together theater enthusiasts to connect, collaborate, and help decide future shows. Members have an opportunity to attend performances, including trips to the American Shakespeare Center, and engage in discussions that strengthen campus theater culture.

Slavic Society The Slavic Society is an inclusive community open to all students, regardless of their background or knowledge of Eastern Europe. It offers a space to explore and celebrate Slavic heritage through activities like cooking lessons, movie nights, and cultural events centered around important Slavic holidays. Beyond fostering cultural appreciation, the society also provides valuable opportunities for Eastern European and Russian Studies majors to gain practical experience and deepen their understanding of their field through hands-on involvement.

Society of Professional Journalists The Society of Professional Journalists at Washington and Lee fosters a community of student journalists dedicated to ethical reporting and press freedom. SPJ hosts events, workshops and guest speakers to connect students with industry professionals and support their growth in journalism.

Society of Sigma Gamma Epsilon, Iota Epsilon Chapter The Society of Sigma Gamma Epsilon, Iota Epsilon Chapter is the 218th chapter of the National Honorary for the Earth Sciences. This organization aims to acknowledge earth and environmental geoscience, engineering with integrated earth and environmental geoscience, and environmental studies students who are dedicated to scholarship, science, and service.

Society of Women Engineers (SWE) The Society of Women Engineers (SWE) is a professional, social, and service-based organization that empowers women in engineering and related fields. Our chapter offers networking opportunities, mentorship, outreach events, and professional development to support academic and career success. We welcome all students who support women in STEM.

Sock Society Our organization is dedicated to growth, community engagement, and making a meaningful impact through innovative approaches. We’ve chosen socks as a unique and powerful tool to fulfill this mission. By donating socks to individuals in need and organizing inclusive fellowship events on campus, we strive to serve the broader public, uplift lives, and foster a spirit of compassion and connection within our community.

South Asian Student Association (SASA) The South Asian Student Association’s (SASA) mission is to celebrate and promote the rich diversity of South Asian cultures, traditions, and perspectives at W&L. Through events, festivals, and dialogue, we create spaces that support South Asian students while educating and connecting with the broader campus community. We honor our heritage with pride and intention, using our platform to uplift voices, build belonging, and advocate for South Asian causes. Our work is grounded in inclusivity, representation, and cultural awareness. Everyone is welcome to learn, celebrate, and grow with us.

SPEAK SPEAK educates our campus about sexual misconduct, supports survivors, and promotes bystander intervention. We host events like Take Back the Night and Stand Up, SPEAK Out to provide safe spaces for survivor stories. Through partnerships with Project Horizon, Public Safety, and Health Promotion, we offer legal, medical, and emotional resources. Our work includes Title IX trainings, law enforcement meet-and-greets, and ongoing fundraising for local survivor support.

Student Association for Black Unity (SABU) SABU promotes the holistic development of the African diaspora on campus and seeks to create and maintain Black/African American/Caribbean American consciousness, awareness and identity.

Student Environmental Action League (SEAL) SEAL promotes environmental awareness throughout the W&L ecosystem through service, community engagement, advocacy, and outreach.

Students Against Rockbridge Area Hunger (SARAH) An organization that is focused on raising money in order to fight food insecurity in the Rockbridge Community that surrounds us.

Students Association for International Learning (SAIL) SAIL brings the world to campus by gathering to discuss international issues and promoting exchange between the diverse cultures represented at W&L.

Tennis for Fun Lexington Tennis for Fun aims to give adults/children with special needs in the Lexington/Rockbridge area the opportunity to play tennis and participate in activities which are adapted to their individual abilities, while also having a great time.

Toastmasters W&L Toastmasters is dedicated to helping students become confident speakers and strong leaders. As part of Toastmasters International, we offer a supportive, low-pressure space where members practice prepared and impromptu speeches, receive constructive feedback, and grow through leadership roles. Our bi-weekly meetings encourage personal and professional development, empowering students of all majors and backgrounds to improve their communication skills, build self-confidence, and prepare for success in academic, social, and career settings.

Traveller Traveller serves the W&L community as a safe-ride system from 10:00 PM - 2:00 AM via two services: Transit and Dispatch.

TriBeta Biological Honor Society Our organization fosters a passion for the biological sciences through academic support, professional development, and community engagement. We offer workshops, research talks, volunteer opportunities, and social events to connect students with shared interests. Members develop leadership skills, explore career paths, and build lasting connections both on campus and beyond.

Virginia Medical Review The Virginia Medical Review offers space for students to share and publish original work. Meetings focus on scientific collaboration and writing.

Washington and Lee Panhellenic Council The Washington and Lee Panhellenic Council serves to enact positive change within our campus community, as well as promote active and engaged involvement of sorority women in university life. In collaboration with our six member chapters, as well as the Interfraternity Council, NPHC Council, and the division of Student Affairs, Panhellenic Council’s primary goal is to serve as a proactive and educational resource for Greek students and those who are interested in Greek Life at W&L.

Washingtones The Washingtones are a multi-quartet barbershop choir. Focused entirely on TTBB repertoire, we seek to honor the traditions and techniques associated with this style of singing, providing an authentic presentation of the artform in performance, recording, and other collaborative efforts.

Washingtonian Society (Washingtonian) W&L’s student-led, counselor-supported recovery space to help the W&L community rethink their relationships with drugs and alcohol to better promote healthy habits and bulid community forged in recovery, as well as provide a sober living space for individuals dedicated to long-recovery

WLUnite WLUnite is an organization committed to making W&L a more inclusive, accessible university for its disabled and nondisabled community members. We strive to educate, advocate, and raise awareness about disabilities, accessibility, and inclusivity through education and engagement on and off-campus.

Women in Technology and Science (WITS) WITS provides hands-on afterschool STEM lessons for 5th/6th grade girls in the Rockbridge County public school system. Our experiments involve subjects in various scientific disciplines. WITS members serve as volunteers in our sessions. We prepare experiment kits and teach all lessons at Natural Bridge Elementary School (NBES), Mountain View Elementary School (MVES) and Fairfield Elementary School (FES).

Writing Club The Washington and Lee Writing Club provides a space for any interested students to share and develop their creative writing, including stories, poetry, scripts, and more. The club aims to promote discussion, feedback, publishing opportunities, and encourage collaboration among writers. The club enhances students’ writing skills and creativity, benefiting both those interested in professional publishing and aspiring writers aiming for personal writing development.
