About the Program

Printmaking class in Wilson Hall
The printmaking program provides an experience in contemporary and experimental printmaking approaches, with a grounding in traditional intaglio and relief techniques. - Printmaking I (introduction to intaglio and relief techniques)
- Printmaking II (in depth intaglio or relief techniques, letterpress)
- Photography III (self described semester long project with emphasis on series work)
- Printmaking IV (self described semester long project)
- Special Topics in Printmaking (past topics include letterpress printmaking, large print, monotype)
- Book Arts Course (letterpress, broadsides, artist books)
Facilities and Equipment
- One Takach etching press 34x42
- One Charles Brand etching press
- One Vandercook letterpress
- Two state of the art ductless hood enclosures for acid/solvent work
- Six cabinets for type
- Large, airy studio with North facing windows, two large work tables and two walls of pin board as well as a free standing wall pin board
Honors and Awards
- Studio Art Thesis Award is awarded to a Studio Art student a year for outstanding work on their Senior Thesis Studio Project
- Studio Art Prize is awarded to a Senior Studio Art Major for outstanding work done during their time in the Art Department
- The Class of 1964 Fine Arts Prize is awarded annually to a junior or senior whom the art faculty identifies as having done the most outstanding work in any area of the fine arts
