Prepare. Access. Thrive.
Campus Fly-In Program
PATH to W&L
The path to college looks different for everyone. Some students grow up surrounded by counselors, campus visit opportunities, and step-by-step advice. Others navigate it with less guidance but no less determination, relying on curiosity, persistence, and grit.
That’s why we created PATH.
This all-expenses-paid visit program is designed for high-achieving students who have excelled in their communities and are preparing for college with limited support or access to resources. PATH offers a chance to take the next step with guidance, connection, and a firsthand look at life at Washington and Lee University, where small classes, strong mentorship, and a powerful financial aid model are designed to help you thrive.
Where This Path Can Lead
Over two days on W&L’s campus, you’ll see what sets us apart: a rigorous liberal arts curriculum paired with deep personal support, flexible academic pathways, and a close-knit campus community where your goals are taken seriously. You’ll leave with a clearer sense of where you’re headed, and how a place like W&L could fit into that future.
What Will You Do During PATH?
- Attend real classes taught by W&L faculty
- Connect with students whose stories reflect your own
- Learn application tips from admissions and financial aid professionals
- Explore support systems designed to help students succeed
- Stay in a campus residence hall and take meals in the dining hall
- See what it’s like to belong at a place like W&L
Who Should Consider PATH?
PATH is designed for high school students who are driven, curious, and ready to explore what comes next, especially those who haven’t had easy access to the tools and guidance that make selective college admissions feel possible.
Many PATH participants go on to apply to and thrive at W&L, finding a place where their goals are seen, supported, and celebrated.
If any of the following describe you, PATH might be a great fit:
- You’re excited about college but unsure where to start.
- You’re the first in your family to attend a four-year college.
- You attend a school with limited college counseling resources.
- You qualify for free or reduced lunch or need-based aid.
- You work with a community-based organization focused on access.
- You’re undocumented, DACA-eligible, or navigating college in a unique way.
- You’re looking for a college community that values equity, mentorship, and opportunity.
PATH is open to current high school juniors (Class of 2026) attending school in the U.S., Puerto Rico, or the U.S. Virgin Islands.
PATH 2025 Dates
We’ll offer two program dates to better fit students’ busy schedules. Students will arrive Sunday afternoon and return home Tuesday afternoon.
- PATH I: September 21 - 23
- PATH II: September 28 - 30
The application must be completed by midnight on August 8th.
