Diversity and Inclusion Visit Experience

DIVE Fall 2020

Greetings! As we continue to adapt to the COVID-19 we have decided to host the Diversity and Inclusion Visit Experience (DIVE) virtually this Fall. Click Event Details and Schedule below for more information on dates and the proposed schedule.

DIVE Fall 2020 will be a tailored and personalized introduction to the liberal arts and residential campus life at W&L with an emphasis on the diverse voices and experiences of our students. The program is open to high school seniors (Class of 2021) and gap year students who will be entering first-years in 2021. To be eligible for this program, you must meet at least one of the following criteria:

  • Self-identify as a student of color (Black or African-American, Latinx, Native American, and/or Asian)
  • Qualify for Free or Reduced Lunch
  • Are eligible for the Pell Grant or the W&L Promise
  • Are a DACA or undocumented student
  • Are a First-Generation college-going student (neither parent has a bachelor’s degree)

Details & Requirements

Here’s an important update: In accordance with our new test-optional policy for the 2020-2021 application cycle, the DIVE application will also be test-optional. We will also ask for the following materials in the application:

  • Unofficial transcript (including 9th, 10th and first semester/trimester 11th grades)
  • Proposed senior course list
  • Optional: Activities list or resume, which can include employment, clubs, sports, family responsibilities and the like. If your normal activities have been impacted by COVID-19, please feel free to share that with us in the application.
  • Optional: Self-reported test scores (SAT, ACT, PSAT, pre-ACT)

This year the DIVE program will feature a series of three virtual events taking place on the following dates:

  • September 12
  • September 20
  • September 26

An invitation to the DIVE program is an invitation for you to register for each of the three events in the series. Topics covered will include admissions and financial aid, academic programs and the liberal arts classroom, student activities, and community engagement. The program will emphasize not only breadth of opportunity at W&L, it will also feature the diverse voices and experiences of our students.
