Dear Mudd Journal Readers and Perusers,
Serving as Editor-in-Chief throughout this academic year, and developing our inaugural online edition alongside the Mudd Center staff and editorial board has been a great privilege in continuing the Journal’s vision. Stepping into a leadership role has given me the opportunity to reflect on the accomplishments of previous editions and the collaboration that illustrates our process of creating a framework that showcases ethical discussion.
This year’s publication reflects the beginning of our creative rendition of ethics and philosophy through painting and poetry. Introducing different mediums and embracing the annual Mudd Center theme of “How We Live and Die: Stories, Values, and Communities” has produced thoughtful conversations throughout our editorial process. My sincere hope for your interaction with the Journal includes an exploration of the interdisciplinary format, celebrating artistic compassion and a variety of perspectives encompassing diverse, relevant, and tangible topics.
I want to extend my sincere gratitude to every person who has contributed to the success of our first-ever online edition. I am endlessly grateful for the kindness, mentorship, and opportunity to work alongside Rachel Levit Ades for the past two years. Knowing her is a true joy. I also would like to thank Kate Saacke for her steadfast support, and Melissa Kerin for her instrumental ideas. Lastly, I am so appreciative of Saaraim Nunez and Siya, this year’s associate editors, who have never let a day pass without a smile. And thank you to our readers, for your energetic engagement!
Cordially,
Amanda Tan ’26
