Search Process
The Board of Trustees is committed to a transparent search process that provides multiple opportunities for members of the W&L community to share their input. The search committee will share regular updates as the search progresses.
Search Phases:
Phase 1: Prepare
- Select the search firm
- Establish the Presidential Search Committee
Phase 2: Definition
- Solicit input from the Washington and Lee community
- Develop the presidential profile
Phase 3: Discovery
- Recruit, review, and evaluate candidate applications
- Conduct preliminary interviews and due diligence
Phase 4: Selection
- Identify finalists for consideration by the Board of Trustees
- Convene the Board of Trustees to elect the next president
- Collaborate with the Board of Trustees and the university administration to ensure a smooth presidential transition
