Presidential Search
We are pleased to announce that the search for Washington and Lee’s 28th president is now underway.
The selection of the president is one of the Board of Trustees’ most important responsibilities. The Board has formed a Presidential Search Committee and engaged a leading executive search firm to lead a transparent, engaging search process that invites the W&L commuinty to share insights and feedback as we define the desired attributes, aspirations, and priorities for the university’s next leader.
Updates about the search process will be shared on this site. This is a consequential moment in the history of Washington and Lee, and we hope each member of our community will stay informed and engaged throughout the process.

On Friday, Dec. 5, Rector Bacdayan wrote to the W&L community on behalf of the Board of Trustees with an update on plans for a presidential search following President Dudley’s announcement that he would be leaving W&L after the 2025-26 academic year.
