Welcome to Lexington and the beautiful Shenandoah Valley!

Lexington has many typical attributes of a small town, like fun shops and unique restaurants, farmers markets, festivals and parades (which you may even be in), but don’t let it fool you! Lexington is also consistently named a best small town, hosts two colleges, and is comfortably nestled among the mountains with larger cities just a short drive away.

One of the town’s best qualities is how people know and care for each other here.  It’s nearly impossible to walk downtown without bumping into friends or saying “hi” to professors. Lexington — and the adventure-ready landscape that surrounds it — become such a part of students’ lives that graduates often return to visit long after their college days are behind them.

Our campus is about forty-five minutes to Roanoke, two hours from the state capital of Richmond, and three hours from Washington, D.C.

The Shenandoah Valley

The Best Backyard!

Students lead most club activities, including backpacking, fishing, canoeing, kayaking, rafting, rock climbing, and mountain biking. First-year students often choose to hike the nearby Appalachian Trail during pre-orientation.

“There’s plenty to do in Lexington, and you have the Shenandoah Valley in your backyard. If you’re bored here, you are doing something wrong.”
