Statement of Sale 1836
                                Account of sale of slaves to Samuel Garland by Samuel McDReid & John Alexander, committee of the trustees of Washington College. Concluded on the 11th Day of January 1836.
Mr. Garland offered for certain slaves contained on a list estimated by your committee to be worth $29100 the sum of $28000. Upon examination & before the contract was closed it was found that Martha price $500 & Matilda, child price $100 were dead & consequently to be deducted...$500.
