Wellness and Fitness
At W&L, we believe that students are successful when they have all the outlets they need for wellness. That's why in addition to our academic support, we offer an array of wellness programming as well as modern fitness facilities and opportunities for our students' many health needs outside of the classroom.
Wellness Programming
W&L's dining services team is committed to preparing food that is fresh, never-frozen and hand-crafted from the highest quality ingredients. We source significant portions of our food from local farmers and growers, including produce from W&L's own Campus Garden, and emphasize fresh, local and healthy options.
W&L has counseling staff available to help students with a variety of difficulties that might impact not only a student's academic work, but an overall sense of well-being. In addition to licensed professionals, our peer counselors are students trained to help students navigate the challenges of college life.
The Red Cross Club of Washington & Lee plans and coordinates a blood drives every 56 days (give or take a few days considering the school's schedule). In addition, flu shots clinics are held October through January for free for students who wish to receive them.
W&L also offers several student-centric support groups, comprised mainly of peers, to support each other in times of crisis, self-discovery, questioning and recovery, including: sober living; LGBTQ+ identity and support; gender identity; mindful eating; depression and anxiety; and sexual assault recovery.
