Annual Events
Certain events that are special to the W&L community happen every year, bringing a large number of alumni and guests to our beautiful campus. These celebrations often include a delicious lunch under the tents on Cannan Green. These events often bring together both old friends and new acquaintances, and they are a great time for students to meet alumni or for parents to meet their student's professors and friends.
Parents and Family Weekend
W&L welcomes the families of students to campus each year for Parents and Family Weekend, a time of informational and recreational activities that gives parents the opportunity to meet with members of the faculty, attend a class, review campus life and participate in social events.
Young Alumni Weekend
Young Alumni Weekend takes place during Homecoming each year, with special 5- and 10-year reunion celebrations and opportunities for all alumni who graduated within the last decade to return to campus and reconnect with old friends.
Nabors Service Days
The Nabors Service League is a student-run community service organization that strives to promote and encourage a spirit of service and to connect service with learning. Twice a year, the Service League sponsors Nabors Service Days, where students from all over campus are able to volunteer for a variety of purposes and community organizations.
Fancy Dress
Started in 1907, Fancy Dress is an annual gala event that is planned, organized and produced by a student committee, and attended by a majority of the student body. While the theme changes every year, Fancy Dress' attendance is considered a tradition at W&L.
Equality Gala
Held every year in March, W&L's Equality Gala is a fun night of dancing and celebration with the added intent of raising awareness of the LGBTQ community, and bringing attention to the issues faced by students, faculty, and the members of local communities. It also gives everyone a fun night to celebrate LGBTQ culture and life.
Alumni Weekend
Alumni Weekend is the university's signature spring reunion event. Alumni who graduated from W&L from 11 to 50 years prior are invited to attend.
Commencement
This is the moment every student anticipates with great excitement. Both undergraduate and law commencements are held each spring on the university's historic Front Lawn. Families and friends of graduates are welcome to attend, and the ceremonies are broadcast live online for those unable to make the trip.
