Security, privacy, human factors in security, Internet freedom, and computer science education.

Professor Khan’s current work focuses on developing automated methods to help users identify and manage sensitive, expendable files in cloud storage, ensuring data privacy and efficient storage utilization. Additionally, he investigates the security and privacy implications of Virtual Private Networks (VPNs), examining potential vulnerabilities and their effects on Internet freedom.

Teaching

Professor Khan teaches a wide array of courses, including computer security, computer networks, databases, computer systems, hardware organization, and introductory programming. He emphasizes active learning methods in his teaching to enhance student comprehension and retention.

Professor Khan enjoys running, hiking, and rock climbing, activities that allow him to connect with nature. He also has a passion for vintage motorcycles and occasionally rides his 1980 Honda CX500 in the summers.
