Our Mission

The Museums at W&L advance learning through direct engagement with the collections and facilitate an interdisciplinary appreciation of art, history, and culture.

Open Hours
  • The McCarthy Gallery in Holekamp Hall is open Monday – Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • The Reeves Museum of Ceramics and Watson Galleries are temporarily closed for exhibition installation

The Museums at W&L holds exhibitions, permanent galleries, lectures, classes, and events throughout the year. These events, along with the collections, provide ample opportunities to integrate museum learning into academic life.

University Students

Washington and Lee students who are interested in learning about and engaging with the museums have several opportunities to work with us, participate in events, and stay connected.

University Faculty

Washington and Lee faculty use museum collections to enhance class curricula. Museum staff can arrange handling sessions, lectures, or a tour for classes.

K12 and Community

Looking to expand classroom learning or wish to engage your children in art and history? The Museums at W&L offers tours, community programs and events, professional development, and digital resources.
