YuJa FAQ

 (69:

What is YuJa?

YuJa is the lecture capture, video storage, streaming, and creation platform used at W&L, replacing Tegrity (which was discontinued by McGraw-Hill in June 2020). Users can create or upload audio/video to an online environment, edit media, and stream audio/video content to a Canvas course. In addition, the software can add close captions to any content created within YuJa or created elsewhere and uploaded to YuJa.

ITS survey results consistently reveal that students rank lecture capture as one of the top learning resources available on campus.

How do I access YuJa?

Log in to Canvas at canvas.wlu.edu and click on the YuJa link in the course navigation of any Canvas class where it is enabled.

What if I am not in a YuJa-enabled classroom?

Faculty may request that YuJa be installed in any classroom on campus by emailing help@wlu.edu. Such installations are made on a term-by-term basis as resources permit. In addition, YuJa can be installed on any computer, enabling recordings to be made for class from home or office.

How long are my YuJa recordings retained by ITS?

Retention guidelines permit all recordings to remain in the system for two academic years plus one term to enable past course recordings to be used in a current or future term. To ensure continued functionality of the service, ITS may seek permission to remove unneeded recordings prior to this time period if system storage limits are approached. Faculty will be notified before recordings are removed, and recordings can be retained longer or stored as a video archive upon request.
