There is no single formula for a successful application. We are looking for an exceptional group of intellectually curious students who will actively and positively contribute to the W&L community. We consider a wide range of factors in addition to your academic record. These include extra-curricular involvement, character, interest in attending W&L, and other personal qualities.

Class of 2027 Engagement

We are thrilled to welcome this class of academically talented, curious, creative and courageous students, each of whom uniquely — and capably — emerged from the most selective process in the university's undergraduate history.  Their leadership, community-engagement, entrepreneurship and resilience were prominent throughout high school. They served as honor council members, founders of dozens of clubs and non-profit organizations, student body presidents, published authors, state champion athletes and musicians, community servants, Girls and Boys State and Nation representatives, interns, editors in chief, family translators, Gold Award recipients and Eagle Scouts plus:

Improv comedian, cross-country cyclist (as in biked across the US!), the first secondary school student to intern in the Ukrainian parliament, team member responsible for raising $600,000 for leukemia and lymphoma research, NASA researcher, refugee tutor, Appalachian Trail hiker, polyglot, math dictionary co-author, Fairfax County Champion of Character award winner, amateur herpetologist, US State Department youth ambassador, Arabic, Indonesian, Irish and Korean dancers, grave chronicler, glass artist, poll worker, African culture club founder, wildlife management club founder, film festival curator, and bagpiper (apologies in advance to your roommate!)

"Scoopologist," steer breeder, sandwich artists, farm hands, escape room game master, baristas, henna artist, dock master, whitewater kayak instructor, lifeguards, retail mavens, Amish poultry stand representative, seamstress, restaurant hosts, disc golf course designer, referees, and froster at Nothing Bundt Cake, arguably the best bakery name ever.
