Check that your adviser has given online authorization for you to register when your window opens; and
View any individual instructor consents for registration into specific course sections, and
See that your overload approval is in WebAdvisor and you can register into the extra course(s), and
Find out when your registration window opens and closes.
Your adviser will give you online authorization for you to register at your appointed registration day and time.
You may check that adviser authorization has been given in WebAdvisor "Holds and Registration Approvals." Only your adviser, or the department head of your adviser may give authorization.
If you don't have authorization when you begin registration, you will see the following error message: You are not eligible for registration. PLEASE SEE YOUR ADVISER FOR AUTHORIZATION TO REGISTER.
Courses requiring instructor consent: Contact the faculty member for 'instructor consent.' If given consent to enroll in the course, you will receive an e-mail notification and it will be noted on your "Holds and Registration Approvals" screen. Please note that if the instructor is on sabbatical or a new or visiting professor can not manage consents at a given time, the instructor on the course is listed as STAFF and the Dept. Head is also listed. The department head is not teaching the course, but is who you would contact for consent. Sample error message: ARTS-111-01 - Instructor consent is required to register for ARTS-111-01.
Prerequisites or class/major restrictions have not been met: Contact the faculty member for 'instructor consent.' If given consent to enroll in the course, you will receive an e-mail notification and it will be noted on your "Holds and Registration Approvals" screen. Sample error message: INTR-431-01 - INTR-431 prerequisite(s) not met. Instructor consent required to register. Second sample error message: PHIL-180-01 - THIS COURSE SECTION IS RESTRICTED TO FIRST-YEAR STUDENTS ONLY.
Overloads and Underloads
Overload or underload approval: Please note that for fall and winter terms, students must register for 12-14 credits. Exceptions to this policy can be made with an academic dean's approval for 11 credits or 15-17 credits. Faculty EC approval is necessary to take 18 or more credits or fewer than 11 credits. Overload permissions are not entered on a student record until after all registration windows have closed. To request an overload, submit the online form from the WebAdvisor link "Request for Overload (Undergraduates Only)". Request for an underload usually begins with Student Affairs Heath or Counseling staff. "Sample error message: PSYC-112-01 - Registration in PSYC-112-01 puts you in overload for UGR-WINTER TERM 2011. Overload approval is requested from WebAdvisor 'Request for Overload' link.
Registration Window is Opened or Closed
Your registration dates and times for the first window will be listed on WebAdvisor in "Holds and Registration Approvals" at least one week in advance.
If you try to register for a section outside of your registration window, you might see a message like one of the following: You can't place ARTH-102-01 on the schedule at this time Student is not allowed to register before 07:30AM on 10/29/15.
