Note: Approved W&L summer courses are listed below upon approval of the faculty's Committee on Courses and Degrees.

See Workday report "W&L Course Offerings" under the Academics app for active summer credit classes. The filter will need to be changed to "2023-2024 Undergraduate Summer." W&L does not teach regular courses or independent study courses during the summer. Credit is only for work like research, internships, fieldwork, etc.

Miscellaneous Summer Policies

  • All courses require instructor consent.
  • No adviser authorization is required for summer courses.
  • The registration drop and add dates for CPD-451: Career and Professional Development Summer Internship are unique and student should carefully review the syllabus for deadlines.  See the CPD internship credit website.
  • Students may register for 1-6 credits ('full-time' is 3-4).
  • There is no student-declared Pass/Fail option for summer courses, though some courses are Pass/Fail only or Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory only.
  • Courses graded WIP (Work-in-Progress) at the end of the summer must have their work completed during the fall term on the schedule outlined by the instructor. Additional time may be granted by the instructor upon written request of the student.
  • No change in registration is official until the instructor consent notification or, the proper form, bearing the required signatures (after a Faculty EC petition) have been received, approved, and recorded by the University Registrar's office. Until that time, students are advised to attend all class meetings and complete all work for the classes they seek to drop or add.
