Membership Requirements

Basic Requirements

To be considered for candidacy to Beta Alpha Psi, students should satisfy the following:

  • Complete 3 semesters of undergraduate courses and enrollment in Intermediate I
  • Declared as an Accounting & Business Administration Major or Public Accounting Major
  • Attain a grade of B or higher in at least two of the three Intermediate Accounting courses (ACCT 231, 332, and 333). Candidates must satisfy this requirement before they are initiated as full members.

Academic Requirements for Applicants with a Sophomore Class Standing:

  • Cumulative GPA of 3.2
  • Enrollment in Intermediate I or 3.0 GPA in 300 level accounting courses

Academic Requirements for Applicants with a Junior Class Standing:

  • Cumulative GPA of 3.2
  • Major GPA of 3.0 OR a 3.0 GPA in 300 level accounting courses. 

Academic Requirements for Applicants with a Senior Class Standing:

  • Cumulative GPA of 3.2 or Cumulative GPA of 3.3 during the junior year
  • Major GPA of 3.0 or a 3.0 GPA in 300-level accounting courses.

Meeting Requirements

Members are required to attend the minimum number of meetings per semester as outlined by the BAP Executive Committee. In each meeting, professionals from the government, private sector, or public accounting share their knowledge and experience. Following each meeting, there is typically time to socialize and network. Professional meetings might include resume workshops, networking advice, mock interviews, and presentations covering relevant accounting issues in today's business world. Each professional meeting lasts about an hour.

Service Requirements

Candidates must complete five hours of individual community service throughout each semester:

  • Two of these hours may be completed through any charitable organization.
  • In addition to completing four individual service hours, candidates are required to participate in a chapter-wide service event, which takes place once each semester.
