First-Year seminars are designed to introduce you to a field of study by way of a special topic, issue, or problem of interest to you. You will have the challenge of exploring the course material in depth with a faculty member and a small group of peers.
For First-year Students
The academic success of a First-Year student begins with the academic advising process. First-Year advisers are trained to work with students in all of their Foundation and Distribution requirements (FDRs) and to assist the First-Year student as they begin to choose a major.
Life at Washington and Lee centers around an exciting academic experience with excellent faculty and resources that will allow you to become a successful student.
Although we have eliminated the possibility of earning two DEGREES at W&L, the double MAJOR is still absolutely possible. Our degree requirements are the same: 113 credits, FDR coursework, a major, and elective courses. You can still double major, and you can still have a minor.
