For Parents

The academic success and the welfare of your student are the primary concerns of the faculty, staff, and deans of the College. The resources on this page are intended to provide you with information you will want to know about your student's academic experience at W&L. This page focuses primarily on academics; you can follow the link to the Division of Student Affairs for additional information about student life, co-curricular opportunities, and other support services. You are always welcome to call or speak in person to any of the deans in the College Office; our phone number is (540) 458 - 8746.

I would like to call special attention to your student's federally-mandated rights of privacy as a student at W&L. The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (commonly referred to as the "Buckley Amendment" or "FERPA") is designed to protect the confidentiality of the records that educational institutions maintain on their students and to give students access to their records to assure the accuracy of their contents. The Act also affords your child certain rights with respect to the privacy of his or her educational records. Please refer to Student Privacy to familiarize yourself with this law and the way in which W&L implements its provisions.

The faculty, staff and deans of the College look forward to greeting and meeting you during the many opportunities - from first-year drop-off to Commencement - that you may have to visit campus.
