The Canadian Rockies August 3-9, 2017

This year's peak-season summer journey features the magnificent Canadian Rockies. Daily excursions through this spectacular region of North America will offer unforgettable wonders: the serene beauty of the Rocky Mountains looming above Banff and Jasper, the crystalline waters of Lake Louise and Maligne Lake, and the stunning glaciers of the Columbia Icefields. We'll relax at legendary resorts including the Fairmont Jasper Park, Fairmont Banff Springs, and Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise-a great trip must by definition include a great place to stay. Each resort offers a full range of outdoor activities: canoeing, golf, or walking trails for the fresh alpine air; mountain landscapes; and occasional glimpses of wildlife indigenous to the Rockies. Adding to our understanding of the natural history of the region will be a naturalist expedition leader and a W&L faculty member.

For those wishing to extend their stay in Canada, this tour offers a two-day rail trip aboard the renowned Rocky Mountaineer from Banff to Vancouver. With glass-domed seating aboard Canada's most celebrated luxury train, we'll traverse the Continental Divide along Kicking Horse River, then roll farther westward into British Columbia along Shuswap Lake with its 1,000-mile shoreline. After an overnight at a hotel in Kamloops, we'll continue through Fraser Canyon before arriving in the city of Vancouver. This option includes a day and night of leisure in Vancouver with further optional tours for those eager to see more.

With beautiful scenery and the fine accommodations at three of Canada's nest hotels, this is a grand tour of one of North America's most beautiful regions.
