River Cruising the Wine Region of Bordeaux April 2 - 10, 2017
We're pleased to present a nine-day journey through France's Bordeaux region and the valleys of the Médoc, Libourne and the Entredeux-Mers. This river cruise will take you into the heart of some of the most breathtaking scenery in France. Our itinerary will include the famous regions of the Garonne and the Dordogne. We'll visit the largest area of AOC (appellation d'origine contrôlée) vineyards in the world, Pauillac and the Medoc, and the ancient towns of Blaye and Saint-Emilion to sample their renowned wines. We'll tour the Château de Roquetaillade in Cadillac and Cognac, a historical city world famous for its fine liqueur. Since we'll be traveling aboard a luxurious riverboat, we'll need to unpack only once as we enjoy enchanting views of the Bordeaux estuary from the comfort of our cabins. Our riverboat, the Scenic Diamond, combines elegance, exquisite cuisine, and relaxing comfort. You'll enjoy panoramic views as you stroll the outdoor track on the Sun Deck or from the comfort of your private cabin. Gourmet meals with wine are served each day in the dining room. Each cabin and suite boasts a superior queen bed and other amenities, including a television and minibar. Our boat includes a wellness center, electronically assisted bicycles, and complementary Wi-Fi. Central to the cruise experience will be talks on the history and culture of the destination.

Day 2: April 3, 2017 - Bordeaux
Welcome to France. A Jet Vacations representative will personally greet you and arrange your transfer to your river cruise ship in Bordeaux. After you've comfortably settled in your cabin, we'll introduce our crew during our welcome cocktail party. You'll have dinner on board, and enjoy an evening or entertainment. We will remain in port overnight. (Dinner)
Day 3: April 4, 2017 - Bordeaux - Pauillac
We sail down the river Garonne and then join the river Gironde and Patiras island before arriving in Pauillac just in time for lunch on board. After lunch on board, our excursion this afternoon is to visit the Médoc (reservation in advance is essential - see with your agency) - a renowned region where the most famous of all red wines in the world are cultivated. We also have the opportunity to see the "must see" châteaux Lafite-Rothschild, Latour and Mouton Rothschild. We return on board for dinner and an evening of entertainment. Day 4: April 5, 2017 - Pauillac - Gironde Estuary - Blaye
We set sail early this morning, cruising along the Gironde to the estuary. We have lunch on board, and arrive in Blaye. We set off on our excursion along the Corniche, or cliff route. We stop in the village of Bourg, a charming city built on a rocky outcrop enclosed by medieval ramparts. On the way back, travel through some of the world's most famous vineyards. We return on board for dinner. We moor for the night in Blaye. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
Day 5: April 6, 2017 - Blaye - Cognac
After breakfast onboard, walking tour of Blaye, where we will visit the citadel. Following lunch onboard, we will depart towards Cognac to discover Romanesque churches, typical sceneries of a terroir considered by many as the "French Tuscany", traveling along the roads and quaysides, passing monuments and Cognac's public gardens. Enjoy a guided visit of the chateau of Cognac, birthplace of French king, François I. A historic building dating from the 13th to 16th centuries, the chateau is a wonderful blend of the history of both Cognac and France. The visit is followed by a tasting session in cognac cellars where you will learn about the enthralling adventure of the "Liqueur of the Gods" with much information about vine growing and harvesting, wine production, distilling and more. Return to Blaye at the end of the day. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
Day 6: April 7, 2017 - Blaye - Libourne - Saint-Emilion
We set sail early this morning, taking breakfast as we cruise, heading towards Libourne. We join the river Dordogne and head for Libourne where we arrive in the early afternoon. After lunch on board, we set off by coach on our excursion to Saint-Emilion. We have a guided visit of the underground monuments of Saint- Emilion village as our guide introduces us to the history of the medieval city. We then visit an exceptional Troglodyte settlement - the cave of Emilion, and we have a tasting to conclude our visit. We rejoin our floating hotel in Libourne at the end of the afternoon. After dinner on board we have an evening's entertainment provided by our crew before we moor for the night. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
Day 7: April 8, 2017 - Libourne - Cadillac
We have breakfast as we cruise this morning, heading for Cadillac. Lunch on board. Arrival in Cadillac. This afternoon we have guided visits to the château de Roquetaillade and to Cadillac. This middle age castle is also famous for the inside decoration dating from the XIXth century. We will then enjoy a stop in a Sauterne winery for a special tasting. We then return to Cadillac for a guided visit of the city with its castle, old mansions and church dating back to the XVth century. We return on board for dinner. The rest of the evening is free. Day 8: April 9, 2017 - Bordeaux
Early relaxing morning of cruising the Garonne bound for Bordeaux through the famous vineyards of Graves. Upon arrival, set off on a walking tour of Bordeaux. A city of art and architecture, Bordeaux is part of UNESCO's world heritage sites. Visit the old city from the large avenues to the narrow streets of Saint Pierre district. Lunch onboard and free afternoon Captain's Farewell dinner, followed by an evening of dancing. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
Day 9: April 10, 2017 - Bordeaux
This Morning you will be transferred* by your Jet Vacations Representative to your onward or homebound flight or to your post extension to San Sebastian. (Breakfast)

Day 9: April 10, 2017 - Bordeaux - San Sebastian
After breakfast on the ship, transfer to San Sebastian by deluxe coach and lunch stop on the trendy sea town of Biarritz and its old port, the Virgin on the Rock, the streets and the views. Then following the rugged coastal road you will continue to Saint Jean De Luz, a lovely small village located on the French Basque coast. The house of Louis XIV and the Church of Saint Jean Baptist are the highlights, surrounded by narrow streets. Finally, arrive in San Sebastian, the most beautiful city in the Basque Country and check into your Hotel for your 3 night post stay. (Breakfast)
Day 10: April 11, 2017 - San Sebastian
After breakfast, meet your guide and then set off on your 2-hour stroll with your group. Ambling at a leisurely pace, explore the tangle of narrow lanes that make up Parte Vieja, San Sebastián's handsome Old Town. Sandwiched between La Concha beach and the banks of the Urumea River, the Old Town hub is home to a treasure trove of the city's finest sights. Wander past a farmers' market to soak up the colorful hubbub of day-to-day activity, and pose for photos in front of San Sebastián Town Hall. Pass churches with remarkable Baroque facades, and hear the history behind sights such as Plaza de la Constitución, an 18th-century square that was partially destroyed by a fire a century after it was built. In between photo stops and chats about each of the landmarks, call in at three of the area's famed pintxos bars to immerse yourself in the atmosphere, learn about the pintxos scene and, of course, sample some of the treats yourself. Much like regular tapas, pintxo dishes on the city menus change daily; expect a dainty but delicious treat - perhaps olives and artisan cheese pierced by a cocktail stick - paired with a drink in each bar. After two hours exploring the city and its legendary pintxos bars, make your way back to your hotel. (Breakfast)
Day 11: April 12, 2017 - Bilbao
After breakfast set on a scenery drive through the Basque countryside towards Bilbao. Travel through rugged landscapes and small local mountain villages, which holds the essence of rural lifestyle. Arrive in Bilbao, meet you private guide and then start the 2 hours walking tour through the city. Firstly, entering the 7 Calles or Old Town, you will discover the traditional architecture and atmosphere: narrow streets, many shops, bars, restaurants and a lot of life. There, apart from seeing the most important buildings such as the Cathedral of Santiago or the local market, the Mercado de la Ribera, your guide will discuss about the origins of Bilbao as a port, the maritime trade with Flanders, the great industrialization, and about the importance of the river. After lunch on your own, visit the Guggenheim Museum. It is a great chance to enjoy one of the most representative buildings of contemporary architecture. Discover the contrasts between yesterday and today and enjoy a pleasant walk! Transfer to your hotel in Bilbao - check-in and rest of the evening at leisure. (Breakfast)

The Fine Print
Fares and schedules are based on regular scheduled carrier service. All applicable airline rules apply and schedules are subject to change. Basic airfares include fuel surcharges, airport departure taxes, passenger facility charges (PFCs), customs or immigration fees, but do not include excess baggage charges and any other airline imposed charges. For mileage accrual information, please contact the carrier directly for details. Air inclusive group packages are non-changeable and non-refundable once deposit has been paid. Rules and fees for canceling and revising airfares vary depending upon the type of airfare purchased. Refundable airline tickets will be processed once the original paper tickets (if applicable) are returned to us via a traceable method of mailing. E-tickets do not need to be returned. Lost paper tickets have no refund value.
Important Note on Fuel Surcharges: Fuel surcharges imposed by the airlines are valid at time of contract and are included in the price of your tour. As fuel continues to fluctuate, if the fuel surcharges change prior to your departure date, you will be assessed this additional amount.
No charges other than the nonrefundable initial deposit are levied for individual passengers canceling up to 150 days prior to the commencement of Jet Vacations LLC services. However, services which have been prepaid by Jet Vacations LLC on behalf of individual clients maybe non-refundable, nonexchangeable, non changeable and/or maybe subject to a cancellation- change fee (e.g. theater tickets, Train tickets, Airline Tickets, Event Tickets, Passes, Entrance fees etc.).
Failing to pay the contractual deposits (other than the initial deposit) constitutes a cancellation. In the event of non-compliance with the payment due dates, Jet Vacations LLC shall have the right to demand the Customer to immediately pay the outstanding balance. Payment shall then be received by Jet Vacations LLC within eight days as of the date of Jet Vacations LLC’s written request. Should payment not be received within this time limit, the group stay shall be deemed to be canceled by the Customer. In the event of full cancellation of the agreement by the Customer, which is not justified by Jet Vacations LLC’s failure to meet its obligations, cancellation penalties shall be invoiced and calculated as follows:
- Initial deposit**: non-refundable.
- From 150 to 91 days prior to departure: 35% penalty of the total cost per person.
- From 90 to 61 days prior to departure: 50% penalty of the total cost per person.
- From 60 to 31 days prior to departure: 75% penalty of the total cost per person.
- From 30 to day of departure & no show: 100% penalty of the total cost per person.
** Deposit to hold the space and First deposit is nonrefundable. If a passenger cancellation creates a change in the price schedule, the tour price will be revised based on the remaining number of participants. A passenger becoming a single as a result of a partner’s cancellation must pay the single supplement.
Note: The following non-refundable fees will be added to the penalty charges listed on the cancellation (full or partial) schedule above: Travel protection premiums. Airline tickets - airline penalties, which may be up to 100% of the ticket value. Refundable airline tickets will be processed once the original paper tickets (if applicable) are returned to us via a traceable method of mailing. E-tickets do not need to be returned. Lost paper tickets have no refund value.
Travel Protection Plan
The Travel Protection Plan may not be purchased after final payment has been made. Insurance cost for travel packages priced between $2,001 and $3,000 is US$250 per person; from $3,001 to $4,000:$300 per person; from $4,001 to $5,000:$382 per person; from $5,001 to $6,000:$448 per person and from $6,001 to $7,000:$495 per person. Insurance premium has to be purchased within 5 days of booking. You understand that the travel insurance is provided by a third party and that all claims will have to be addressed directly with the Travel Insurance Provider.
We will make every effort to operate all tours as advertised. Situations may arise, voluntarily or involuntarily, that require changes or exceptions in the airport of departure, the itinerary, land arrangements, hotels, trains or ports of call. On these occasions, we reserve the right to make such modifications and substitute conveyances/hotels as deemed necessary.
Minimum Participants to Operate
Group needs a minimum of 20 participants to operate. Optional tours need a minimum of 15 participants to operate.
We reserve the right to cancel the entire trip (or any component of the trip) for any reason and/or time. In this event, our liability, if any, shall be limited to and liquidated by refunding to each prospective participant the payments made.
