W&L After Class: The Lifelong Learning Podcast

Intellectual curiosity doesn’t end with graduation. In “W&L After Class,” you can join conversations with W&L faculty about a tremendous variety of subjects—topics often well beyond familiar interests. In addition to some favorite professors, you’ll meet new faculty who can introduce you to new worlds. Through the Lifelong Learning Podcast series, we invite you to attend the kinds of discussions you may recall having in faculty offices or along the Colonnade, the engaging conversations that are such a vital part of life at W&L.

Virtual Book Club

Together we will connect with our university alumni family, faculty, and staff as we read and discuss recent novels, histories, memoirs, and other best-sellers. We are eager to share in this experience of lifelong learning as we explore several of the great books available today.

Faculty Book Recommendations

In early April 2020, we asked the W&L faculty, "If you were marooned on a desert island, what book would help you pass the time?" We explained that we wanted to share their responses with W&L alumni and parents, who, like most Americans, are sheltering in place during this time of pandemic. What followed was a massive outpouring of titles along with personal testimony as to the merits of these selections. We are pleased now to share these with you in the order in which they have been received.

Alumni College Archives

The history of the W&L Alumni College is best displayed through examples of faculty teaching in our programs. Here is a fair representation of our faculty and distinguished guest speakers at work over the years in a variety of W&L classrooms. Each of the talks below reveals the adventure of lifelong learning before a live audience. The subjects are diverse, as are the personalities, interests and accomplishments of our presenters. We invite you to explore at your leisure.
