Intermediate Russian I

Continuation of RUSS 112 with some attention to Russian literature and culture.

Advanced Russian I

Speaking, reading and writing of Russian with increased attention to Russian literature and advanced grammar.

Topics in Russian Literature: Russian Imperial Wars

RUSS 395C - Brodsky, Anna

In this course, we read some of the most famous works of Russian  writers and journalists from the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries such as Leo Tolstoy, Svetlana Alexievich (the recent Noble Prize winner), Anna Politkovskaya (a famous Russian journalist) among others.  We will discuss the issues of Russian colonialism, political violence, and resistance against powerful colonial forces.
