Anita Allen

Anita L. Allen is the Henry R. Silverman Professor of Law and Professor of Philosophy at the University of Pennsylvania Law School. She received her Ph.D. in Philosophy from the University of Michigan and her J.D. from Harvard. Allen is a Senior Fellow in Bioethics at Penn's Medical School and a member of the American Law Institute.

Allen has written widely on privacy, ethics, race and gender. She is author of a textbook, Privacy Law and Society (West 2007), along with The New Ethics: A Guided Tour of the 21st Century Moral Landscape (2004), Why Privacy Isn't Everything: Feminist Reflections on Personal Accountability (2003), and Uneasy Access: Privacy for Women in a Free Society (1988). Allen's latest book is Unpopular Privacy, published in 2010 by Oxford University Press.
