Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Events

We commence our Martin Luther King, Jr. birthday celebration and commemoration events this week. Over the next ten days we feature 11 different MLK events, ranging from a "Creative Showcase" Kick-off event to a student-led discussion on social change to the traditional Children's Birthday Party to our featured MLK speaker, the Rev. Dr. William Barber II. The period is filled with panels and discussions and commemorations, all of which have great potential for learning opportunities for our students and indeed for our entire community. The full schedule in detail may be viewed here. I encourage everyone to attend as many events as possible, and to do all you can to encourage your students to attend and actively participate. The MLK events are a major part of our commitment to enhancing inclusion and engagement at W&L and to continuing to make the university an ever-closer example of King's beloved community. Any questions about the MLK planning may be directed to Mrs. Crasha Townsend, Director of Inclusion and Engagement. Many thanks for your support of these initiatives.
