The Provost’s Office has limited funding to support students who are presenting their research at academic conferences. Students must have conducted the research under the supervision of a W&L faculty member and must be presenting either a paper or poster at the conference. Funding levels range from $50-$400 per student and are competitive. To request funding click the link above.
Summer Research Opportunities
The Summer Research Scholars Program encourages well-qualified and strongly motivated students to become familiar with research tools, techniques, and methodology through collaborative research with faculty members during the summer. Participation is an enriching and broadening experience. It is particularly valuable to students who intend to pursue graduate work, for they are introduced to the kind of research activities they will encounter at the graduate level.
Developed as a complement to the Summer Research Scholars Program, which promotes collaborative research between students and faculty members during the summer, the Student Summer Independent Research (SSIR) grants support rising seniors in the pursuit of their own research or creative interest, with the mentorship of a faculty member. These independent summer opportunities do not earn credit.
