We work to understand the molecular biology of protein/nucleic acid complexes and the regulation of gene expression. Specifically, we are characterizing novel metabolic enzyme/RNA interactions with an interest in how metabolism interfaces with mRNA regulation. Separately, we are investigating the molecular mechanism of mRNA translation, with a focus on translational elongation (the stepwise addition of amino acids to a growing protein in the ribosome).
