Curriculum Vitae

Seth Cantey teaches courses on global politics, Middle East politics, intelligence, terrorism, and American foreign policy. His work is published or forthcoming in Studies in Conflict and Terrorism; Parameters; Media, War & Conflict; and outlets for broader consumption like USA Today and the Huffington Post. He has received funding for language training, course development, and research from The US Department of Education, The Mellon Foundation, and The Bradley Foundation, as well as support for teaching and professional workshops from The Council on Foreign Relations, NATO, The US German Marshall Fund, and several US universities. Before joining Washington & Lee, Seth earned a Ph.D. and M.A. in Political Science and a graduate certificate in Middle East Studies from Duke. He also holds an M.A. in Latin American Studies from Georgetown and a B.A. with majors in Psychology and Spanish from Bucknell. He speaks Arabic, Spanish, and Portuguese.
