Ben Accinelli ('07)

After graduating from W&L in 2007 with a B.S. in mathematics and a B.A. in history, Ben Accinelli headed to the Notre Dame Law School, earning a J.D. in May 2010. His years at Norte Dame were busy ones--in addition to devoting time to his coursework, he served as a research assistant for Professor J. Eric Smithburn, interned in Cass County Michigan for the prosecutor's office, and was an article editor for the Notre Dame Journal of Law, Ethics & Public Policy. He has taken the Illinois Bar Exam and has accepted a commission as an officer in the Army JAG Corps beginning in 2011.

Ben's years at W&L were busy as well; not only did he earn two degrees, but he also completed an Army ROTC program (through VMI) and was a four-year varsity letterman in swimming.

As for advice for current W&L students interested in attending law school, Ben says, "I've found the discipline needed to succeed in evaluating math problems in college invaluable for analyzing legal issues in law school."
