As a founding member of Steve Riley and the Mamou Playboys, David toured Folk Festivals worldwide for 23 years and was nominated for four Grammy Awards.

Born in San Felipe, Texas, Cedric Watson grew up with rich musical surroundings that included blues, old soul, country, hip hop and Zydeco music. He made his first public appearance at the Zydeco Jam in Houston at the age of nineteen. A charismatic Cajun-Creole fiddler and accordion player, Watson has performed in seventeen countries and on seven albums. He is a prolific songwriter who channels his diverse ancestry to create his own brand of sounds.

Greely and Watson are friends of Dr. James Leva, Visiting Assistant Professor of French at Washington and Lee University and well-known local bluegrass musician. In addition to the concert, they will guest lecture in Leva’s Francophone Cultures of Canada, Louisiana and the Caribbean class as well as Dr. Gregory Parker’s Worlds of Music class thanks to funding from the Office of the Dean of The College and the Department of Music.
