Assistant Professor of Journalism

Washington and Lee University's Department of Journalism and Mass Communications invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of assistant professor with teaching and research concentrations in strategic communication and public relations, and an emphasis in social media or data analytics. The start date is fall 2018. Our new colleague will be expected to teach undergraduate courses within our strategic communication major, including public relations strategies, campaigns, and public relations writing, as well as digitally oriented courses in the candidate's area of expertise.

Candidates should have experience in strategic communication, and professional experience with digital platforms is desirable. A Ph.D. in public relations, mass communications or a related field and teaching experience at the college level are preferred. Candidates with a master's degree in public relations or a related field, significant professional experience and a creative or scholarly research agenda will be considered.
