VMI Parents Weekend Stephen Reibach, VMI '18

On October 16th, while W&L students were off for reading days, W&L Hillel was busy hosting Jewish cadets and their families for the Virginia Military Institute's Parents Weekend. The cadets were given the opportunity to show their families how they spend their Friday nights by lighting candles and eating a wonderful Shabbat barbecue dinner together. The families in attendance were able to witness how their cadets remain active in a Jewish community while away at college and deal with the difficult time constraints that the rigorous military lifestyle VMI provides for its students. The dinner was amazing and Megan McLean and the W&L Hillel Student Board Members in attendance did a wonderful job of making the cadets' families feel welcome and at home. The dinner was a resounding success and did a wonderful job of showing the families just how important Hillel has been in providing cadets with a place where they can feel at home and comfortable while actively embracing their Jewish cultural and religious identity.
