The Global Discovery Laboratories administer quizzes, tests, and examinations to students through the GDL Support Center, Room 135, in the Center for Global Learning. All hard copy and digital quizzes, tests, and examinations must be signed out on the electronic system upon entry to the GDL. All hard copy testing materials must be returned to the GDL Technology and Learning Specialist upon completion. Upon completion of the quiz, test, or examination, the student must enter the time of completion using the same electronic system in the GDL Support Center.
All incoming first-year students are expected to take a world language placement test in the language they used for admission to the University (i.e., the student who has studied French for three years in high school will take the French placement test). The procedures for taking these tests are described in this section and should take an average of fifteen minutes.
Students majoring in French, Spanish, and German languages are tested prior to graduation. The following test helps determine their level of proficiency.
Students completing the FDR requirement in French and Spanish will be assessed to determine the student's progress in completion of the FDR. We encourage students to do their best in the FDR assessment to help us in determining the quality of our offerings.
