Bryant S. Kendrick Memorial Outdoors Fund Award, Summer 2017
One of the best parts of my trip on the East Coast Trail in Newfoundland, Canada was travelling to a part of my home country that I had never been before. The views along the entire trail were absolutely breathtaking, ranging from coastal cliffs to swampy marshes. Everyone I met was friendly and helpful. In fact, I ended the trip staying with an elderly couple in St. John's I had met along the trail.
My journey was one of challenges. It involved decision making, building friendships and more self resolve and discipline and I had at times. Being alone with nature was a powerful feeling, but I was also acutely aware of how vulnerable I was. Yet, it was also one of the best things that I have ever done and an unforgettable experience.
