Being a member of the Relay For Life committee at W&L is open to anyone who is interested and has a passion for the cause. We attend the student activities fair each fall to recruit new members and have a very high retention rate in committee members staying from year to year. We are a small but mighty committee and have grown significantly since the start of the organization.

It is the goal of Relay For Life, overarching and in our specific W&L organization, to benefit the community of the world at large. Scaling it back to our campus and surrounding community, cancer is something which affects almost all students and faulty through their own battles, family members' battles, and friends' battles. Each year, we have more and more members of our community who have a personal pull to our organization.

Our club is fairly unique in its leadership, in that members have the opportunity to choose which leadership position or committee they wish to be a part of and we do not typically hold official elections of any sort. We do, however, divide up assignments and roles at the beginning of each year (in September). We have a chair, co-chair, and junior chair as our overall leadership roles. We then have four committees - Outreach, Day of Event, Publicity, and Fundraising - which each have a chair and other positions within the committees for students to take ownership of a specific aspect of our efforts.
